hair parting), tikka, nath (nose ring), karan phool or

covered with the sher muh kada (lion head bangle), the
kundan patla, hath phool and large stone studded finger
rings. The waist is adorned with the cummer band or the
tagdi and a decorative key chain. The feet are bejeweled

Jewelry has a place in every woman’s
heart and wardrobe the world over. But
where beauty, craftsmanship and variety are
concerned, Indian jewelry rules the roost.
Keep up with the latest trends this
summer with fashion jewelry set with real gems
and pearls. Here we feature four kinds of jewelry
from four different areas of India’s jewelry map.
Jaipur (picture above): The beautiful open polki
(uncut diamond) jewelry is an old trend that has
been revived and modernized by the fashion
industry to good effect. Set with a myriad of
rubies, emeralds and onyx, polki jewelry can be
paired with plain, solid colored outfits that will
bring out their beauty to maximum effect. Match
with a crystal studded purse and decorative, opentoed shoes. Wear bright make-up.
Kolkata (bottom picture): Intricate filigree work
on pure silver and laid with stones that achieve a
100% real diamond jewelry look. The jewelry is
subtle enough and refined enough to wear with
any outfit and on any occasion. Focus on the
kada (inset) in the picture. A sophisticated work
of art, the kada is carved on silver and laid with
real gemstones to achieve an ethereal effect.
String Jewelry (picture below): Set with a string
of real gemstones, these necklaces and matching
earrings are great for summer wear.
Jodhpur/Ajmer (picture above): An intricate
array of high-end kundan jewelry with meenakari
work. Each piece is a work of art, handmade using
lac and real stones. Very popular during weddings,
there is a piece for every part of a woman’s body.
