Fellowship Day and Gala
Set for April 23 –
Mark That Calendar!
A highlight of our social year, Fellowship
Day and the Gala will be held a bit earlier than
usual this year – on Wednesday, April 23.
We will again hold the events at the Greensboro
Country Club Irving Park location. Event
plans and arrangements are being made by a
committee headed by Patrick Theismann and
E.O. Ferrell. Working with them are
Raffle – Marlene Sanford, Jim Smith
Silent Auction – Rob Kantlehner,
Chair; Lisa Thompson; Shirley Spears; Matt
Logan and Adrian Smith.
Your enthusiastic and generous participa
tion in the raffle and silent auction bring
important benefits to our club and to the
community. Proceeds from these events
underwrite club operations and our contribu
tions to worthwhile projects both here in
Greensboro and internationally. You may also
make direct, tax-deductible contributions to
the Rotary Club of Greensboro Foundation.
This is our only fundraising program, so please
PARTICIPATE!
Information about Fellowship Day and Gala
plans will be sent to you shortly, so keep an
eye on the mail!
Items Needed for Silent Auction!
From sports memorabilia to beautiful
pillows for your sofa, from free professional
help to a relaxing beach or mountain weekend,
from a day at the spa to a day fishing…there
are lots of opportunities to donate an item or
service to the Fellowship Day Silent Auction.
Please contact Robert Kantlehner at
robert.kantlehner@bradyservices.com or at
336-709-9638 for more information and to

Reception Set for March 18
Our Rotary Club will be hosting a reception
for new members, prospective members, AND
sponsors on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the
home of Freddy and Susan Robinson. Their

This will be a great opportunity for each of
you to “schmooze” and learn more about your
fellow Rotarians.
Also, please take this opportunity to invite
anyone that you would like to introduce to
Rotary as a prospective member.
The reception will have plenty of food and
beverages. Time is from 5:30-7:30PM. Feel free

D-Day 70th Anniversary Honor Trip
Rotary District 7690 is sponsoring a D-Day Honor trip to the National D-Day Memorial (www.dday.org)
in Bedford, VA for the ceremonies commemorating the 70th Anniversary of that singular event in our history.
The staff at the memorial are expecting over 10,000 people at the event and we would like to identify veterans
who participated in the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944 and, if space allows, any veteran of World War II.
Individuals who wish to participate as “Guardians” may also apply.
This event is organized on the model of the extremely successful Flight of Honor program with individual
Rotary clubs contributing $100 per veteran they sponsor.
Identifying D-Day veterans is most important so if you are, or know of, anyone who is a D-Day
veteran, please let them know about this opportunity. The application period ends on April 15 and veteran
and guardian applications are available at www.ddayhonor.com.
Additional information about the project can be found at www.ddayhonor.com or by contacting Jeff Sims
at 336-706-0194 or jeffsims1@gmail.com.
