In between, check out the Shepherd of the Hills Trout Hatchery, spend some time at the Tanger Outlet Mall and dine at the Chateau on the Lake, Landry’s Seafood Restaurant, and Lambert’s Café, home of the throwed rolls. Cost includes motorcoach, one night in hotel, two shows and three meals. The motorcoach will depart from the Jewish Community Center. Registration required by September 20th. 7th Annual Senior Follies Sunday, October 20, 2:00pm Jewish Community Center Auditions: Wednesday, September 18, 5:30-7:00pm Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s 50+ program and the Heritage Center bring you the Seventh Annual Senior Follies at the Lewis and Shirley White Theater at the Jewish Community Center. Auditions will take place on September 18 from 5:30-7:00 pm at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood, Roeland Park. There are no entry fees and each act needs to be 5-7 minutes long and can have an unlimited number of participants. Registration forms are available at the Heritage Center. This year’s JAF will also introduce a variety of new, interactive activities.The 9th Jewish Arts Festival (JAF), presented by Saint Luke’s Health Systems, is the premiere Jewish Cultural event in greater Kansas City. This fun, family-friendly festival features artists, musicians and entertainers who capture the imaginations and purchasing power of families and adults. Held on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the Jewish Community Center in Overland Park, the festival typically draws more than 7,000 participants and is supported by a “Who’s Who” of corporations, foundations and individuals. As the premiere Jewish cultural event in greater Kansas City, the JAF reinforces Jewish communal pride and showcases its place as a major contributor to the great cultural landscape of the United States. It attracts people from all cultures, faiths, ages and backgrounds. Admission in advance is $6/adult and $2/ child (4-12) and can be purchased at the JCC main reception desk. Admission the day of the festival is $8/adult and $5/child (4-12). Admission is free for children under 4. Volunteer at the Festival Volunteers receive a free t-shirt and admission to the festival. There are numerous opportunities from taking tickets to selling soda. The festival requires over 600 volunteers to operate successfully. Sept. 11 9:00am-11:00am JCC Gymnasium Cost: Free Not quite sure what Pickleball is or how to play the game? This class is for you. Pickleball is a fun, easy to learn sport. It is traditionally played on a badmintonsized court with special Pickleball paddles, which are typically made of wood or high-tech aerospace materials. The ball used is similar to a wiffle ball, but slightly smaller. The lower net and wiffle ball allow the game to be accessible to people of all ages and abilities, while still allowing more competitive players to test their mettle. This introductory class is free and limited to the first 16 participants. Participants will learn the basics of serving, scoring, returning and strategy. Walking is a good way to expand your workout and helps many people improve their heart health. Start with some stretching at the Heritage Center and then head over to the Sprint Campus walking trail. Mud describes fantastic scenarios-he killed a man in Texas and vengeful bounty hunters are coming to get him. He says he is planning to meet and escape with the love of his life, Juniper, who is waiting for him in town. Skeptical but intrigued, Ellis and Neckbone agree to help him. It isn’t long until Mud’s visions come true and their small town is besieged by a beautiful girl with a line of bounty hunters in tow. Rated PG-13 for some violence, sexual references, language, thematic elements and smoking. Running time: 130 minutes. Going behind the scenes, it details Ramon's "mission within the mission" to carry into space a miniature Torah scroll that survived the horrors of the Holocaust and once belonged to Israel's lead scientist for the mission, Joachim Joseph. September 10 - Footnote, is the tale of a great rivalry between a father and son. Eliezer and Uriel Shkolnik are both eccentric professors, who have dedicated their lives to their work in Talmudic Studies. The father, Eliezer, is a stubborn purist who fears the establishment and has never been recognized for his work. While his son, Uriel, is an up-and-coming star in the field, who appears to feed on accolades, endlessly seeking recognition.
