An
Invitation
from the Atlantic
Regional Director
Dear Sorors, Amicae, Zeta Male Network and Guests of the Atlantic Region:
It is my esteemed pleasure to invite each of you to our 2015 Atlantic Regional Leadership Conference (ARLC).
On October 8th through October 11th we will inundate the City of Brotherly Love with Royal Blue and White
Sisterly Affection as we convene at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing on the Delaware River. We will
become immersed in workshops that educate us so that we may go forth and raise the awareness of our
community. We will be absorbed in handling the business of Zeta while we fellowship with our Brothers of Phi
Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. as they convene their Pennsylvania State Conference down the hallway.
Come experience the beauty of Philadelphia in autumn and the wonder that is the Birthplace of Our Nation.
We will pay homage to Founder and President Emerita Arizona Cleaver Stemons as we unveil her headstone;
celebrate our journey as we countdown to our Centennial; Help Other People Excel through our contributions
for Elder Care and donations of used cell phones to support the victims of domestic violence. Our schedule is
packed with enriching and exciting opportunities to grow, network and Build on the Principles of Zeta.
Join us Sunday morning, as we embody Finer Womanhood in our hats, gloves and hat pins; and prepare
to be filled with the spirit at our Inspirational Breakfast on the Spirit of Philadelphia. We will depart with a
clearer vision, greater passion and healthier direction as we Blaze New Paths, thus personifying International
President Mary Breaux Wright’s national theme.
On behalf of the Atlantic Region Executive Boards--Zeta and Amicae--I join Atlantic Regional Amica President
Wanda Bryant-Ison; Regional Marshal Valerie G. C. Villines; Co-Marshal Kelley Mauldin; Beta Delta Zeta Chapter
and the Zeta Amicae Auxiliary of Philadelphia as we request the pleasure of your attendance at the Leadership
Conference of the Amazing, the Astounding, and the Awesome Atlantic Region. Leadership Lives Here!
For the Love of Zeta,
Janet Y. Bivins, Esq.

The Arizona Cleaver Stemons House
1915 Federal Street, Philadelphia, PA
The Arizona Cleaver Stemons House was purchased
by the Atlantic Region in 1982, on October 27, 1989,
Beta Delta Zeta Chapter became the owners and
caretakers of the home where our beloved Founder
resided for over 52 years.
The chapter later funded the over $40,000
restoration and opened it to the sisterhood with
a ribbon cutting ceremony by Past Grand Basileus
Dr. Barbara West Carpenter during the 2000 Grand
Boulé in Philadelphia. Since then, Beta Delta Zeta
Chapter has maintained the home with a budget
of up to $10,000 per year. You can ensure the
maintenance and security of our sorority’s national
treasure with a donation to the Arizona C. Stemons
House Fund campaign. Contact the Beta Delta Zeta
Chapter Trustee Board for more information.
Love Park
16th & JFK Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA
A favorite destination for tourists and locals alike, John F.
Kennedy Plaza gets its famed nickname “LOVE Park” due
to its famous sculpture.
Located near City Hall, LOVE Park serves as the grand
entrance to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
The plaza, designed by famed City Planner Edmond
Bacon, father of actor Kevin Bacon, was originally
constructed over an underground parking garage in
1965. The plaza expanded in 1969 with the addition of
beautifully curved granite steps and a majestic fountain.
Robert Indiana’s iconic LOVE statue was not installed
until the bicentennial in 1976, only to be removed two
years later. Due to its immense popularity, the sculpture
was purchased by the Chairman of the Philadelphia
Art Commission, F. Eugene Dixon, Jr., and permanently
returned to the plaza.
Aside from photo opportunities, LOVE Park also features
the Fairmount Park Welcome Center and Gift Shop and is
a favorite spot to grab a bite to eat from some of the city’s
top food trucks.
