According to U.S. Army Dental Command, soldiers were away from their units 2.5 million hours each year taking the time to receive those treatments in three separate appointments. The GFC program is designed to reduce the number of those visits by at least 50 percent. Historically, dental treatment for soldiers focused on achieving dental readiness, not wellness. The GFC program instead focuses on dental wellness so that soldiers are in the ultimate shape for possible deployment. Soldiers can be deployed at Class I (wellness) and Class II (readiness), but readiness is not the ultimate goal. Soldiers can make appointments at the dental clinic by calling 684-5516. Dental Sick Call is available from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday. WHEN MINUTES COUNT count on us! More secure than regular e-mail, the Army Medicine Secure Messaging Service is a program in which patients exchange messages with their health care team via a secure website. The program is now Armywide, so patients who already have an account with RelayHealth can add their health care providers on the website after they have been enrolled at MAHC. Chuck Duffield, the MAHC Relay- Health administrator, said the biggest issue with the system is when patients try to use it before filling out paperwork at MAHC. “If they don’t already have an account, they have to come in so we can verify their identity,” Duffield said. “That’s what makes it secure, otherwise anyone can say they are you.” To request an account, complete a registration form at any of the registration desks at MAHC. Once the account is confirmed and active, patients will also be able to add and act on behalf of dependent children. Because of the time that sending a message and receiving a response can take, patients should never use the system for urgent matters. Duffield said the system is secure, convenient and well worth the small amount of effort required to get an account. “From anywhere 24/7, if you have access to a computer, you can send your health care team a message.” Duffield said. “And they can message back to you, wherever you are.” For information about secure messaging, visit the Munson Army Health Center website at www.munson.amedd .army.mil and select the AMSMS link near the center of the page. https://www.munson.amedd.army.mil Calendar: http://tinyurl.com/munsonhealth | On Facebook: search for Munson Army Health Center SERVING THE ARMY. Secure messaging is also available as an enhanced option allowing beneficiaries to communicate with their primary care manager directly. Munson Army Health Center is in the top five in the entire Medical Command in the usage of TRICARE Online by beneficiaries in scheduling primary care appointments. Each day, more than 70 percent of MAHC’s primary care appointments are available to be booked either online or via phone through the Call Center. When the remaining special procedure appointments are not fully booked they all convert to acute care appointments and are available for benefi- ciaries to book via TRICARE Online up to 24 hours in advance. The appointments available and seen on TRICARE Online are the same appointments seen by the appointment clerks. If an appointment is not available online or with the Appointment Center, a telephone consult will be initiated and the beneficiary will be called by the nurse or the provider that day to determine the acuity of the problem. TRICARE Online users have a large number of options for logging in, including using their MyPay log-in and pass- word. Another option is the Department of Defense Self Service Logon, or DS Logon, which can be obtained by any beneficiary over the age of 18. This logon can be used at a multitude of websites in addition to TRICARE Online to include the United Healthcare Military and Veterans Website where beneficiaries can view their network referrals and claims information. The local TRICARE Service Center can assist beneficiaries with obtaining a premium DS Logon account — two forms of identification will be needed to register for the premium account. Users experiencing difficulties with this or any other issue can call the 24hour TRICARE Online customer service desk at (800) 600-9332. DoD is striving to improve the TRICARE Online website every day, making it easier to schedule primary care appointments.
