1.Keep the left arm straight. The left arm
does not have to be perfectly straight at
the top of the backswing. A slight bend at
the elbow is permissible. Straight does not
mean rigid. The most important point is
that it should be straight at impact.
2.Rotate your left shoulder under your chin.
This phrase does not ensure a full shoulder
turn particularly if you start moving your
chin down or left during the backswing,
as many golfers do. Instead, try to turn your
shoulders so they point at the golf ball at
the top of your swing, but remember your
own flexibility limits.
3.Pause at the top. The pause is not something
you make happen, but rather it happens
naturally as a consequence of a correct
swing and proper sequence of motion. If
you force the pause it will affect your timing

4.Keep the right elbow close to or against your
side. The right elbow actually moves away
from the side throughout the backswing.
You must develop width in your swing.
Too often golfers tuck their elbow right
away during their takeaway and throughout
the backswing creating a narrow and
inadequate turn behind the ball. Remember
that swing arc length equals speed, and
speed equals distance.

PRO TIP:
Many of us are always searching for the next
great golf tip to help our game. Whether it is
the newest golf magazine or Johnny Miller’s
critique of Tiger Woods swing during a major
championship we are ever so vigilant. There
is a lot of good information out there, but
it’s important not to misinterpret what they
are telling you. Below are some common
misconceptions golfers tend to make.

Ringing in December in style, wet style that is...... These guys just can’t get enough of the Fort. Ron
Scott, David Bluhm, Dan Koontz, Scott Griffith and Birthday Boy – Tom Moody, decided they needed
a fix, so they picked a wonderfully wet Friday to get nine holes in. With the greens running slow due to
rivers of water, they remained undeterred and had a blast, albeit a “wet blast”. Happy Birthday Tom!
