The CHP Day Pass permits you the privileges
of a subscriber for the day! That would include
all our fitness classes, use of our beautiful weight
room, and access to swims and skates.
Babysitting Service
We offer babysitting services by reservation
only, with at least 24 hours notice, only to
users of the complex at the following rates:

Reservations for the babysitting service must be made
at our Control Desk or during babysitting hours in
the babysitting room. Reservations can be made up
to four weeks in advance. If you are unable to keep
your reservation, you must notify our Control Desk,
at 464-5100 or you will be required to pay for your
reserved time. We ask that if you have a child who is
not walking that you limit your stay at the babysitting
service to 90 minutes.

Recreational Swims
Subscribers privileges include all recreational swims
(open and subscribers). Adult swims are for those
over the age of 18. Lane swimming is restricted
to those over the age of 13. To encourage family
participation, children must be with a parent in
the water during family swim times. All children
under the age of 8 yrs. must be accompanied by an
adult in the water.

enjoy this quality entertainment. Subscribers
can bring guests to any recreational swim for

Lane Swim - For those who wish to swim
lengths, only 1 lane is available during
classes (c). (this time is not recommended
for fast paced or competitive swimmers). At
other times (*) you have the use of one or
more lanes of the competition pool and the
whirlpool. The slide and diving board are not
available.
Parent & Tot Swim - Open to a parent and
2 tots (children under 5). Come and enjoy
this special time designed for young children
(limited to leisure and tot pools).
Open Swim - Yahoo! A recreational swim for
everyone, all at once!
Adult Swim - Serene aquatic recreational

To receive the most benefit and enjoyment from our
dance program, your child’s placement in the correct
level, based on their individual skills is critical.
Please note the following:
New students 2-5 years of age: please enroll
your child in the applicable toddler/pre-school
level based on your child’s age as of Oct. 1, 2015.
New students ages 6 years and up or students
transferring from another school can contact Lisa
Hart for a no-cost placement test prior to registering to ensure correct placement. Exams, training,
maturity, and experience are all criteria affecting
placement.

taken (see level 3 & up for appropriate shoes)

• Ballet shoes must be proper leather ballet shoes, NO
gymnastics shoes please
Exams
Although not compulsory, they prove to be an invaluable tool for students, parents and teachers to measure
success. Due to the high standard of CDTA (Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association) exam students
may not be ready to take an exam in each discipline
at each level. Exams are taken at the teacher’s discretion. Exams in Grade 2 and up require at least 2
classes per week to be eligible.
Students enrolling in more than one class in any one
discipline are requested to contact a member of the
Dartmouth Dance Academy staff before enrolling to
ensure correct placement.

So… you want to be a Lifeguard!
These are nationally recognized programs through the Lifesaving Society.
STEP 1: Canadian Swim Patrol (optional)
Description
This Lifesaving Society program is the on-ramp to Lifeguarding. It provides enriched training for
those who are ready to go beyond swim lessons. The three levels (Rookie, Ranger, Star) continue to
develop participants’ swim strokes and provide the skill foundation that prepares them for success in
the Society’s Bronze Medal awards.
Prerequisites
Ability is the only
prerequisite. Designed for
8-12 years of age.
Description
This award is the Pre-Bronze Medallion training standard and it provides excellent preparation for success
in obtaining the Bronze Medallion award. Participants develop problem-solving and decision-making skills
as they relate to water rescue and First Aid. Training emphasis is placed on 3 areas: Water Proficiency,
First Aid and Recognition & Rescue. CPR-A certification is included. Course length: 10 hours

This award teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components Minimum 13 years of age or

victims. Lifesavers also develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim. CPR-B certification

STEP 4: Bronze Cross

Prerequisites
This award is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an intro Bronze Medallion & CPR B.

managing aquatic spinal injuries and preventing the loss of life in a variety of aquatic emergencies. They
will continue to develop stroke endurance and fitness training skills. It also includes a 600m timed swim.

STEP 5: National Lifeguard Course (NLS)
Description
This is a nationally recognized lifeguard certification program. NLS is designed to develop a sound
understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgment and a mature and responsible attitude toward
the role of the lifeguard. Lifeguards are water rescue professionals trained in emergency care. Their
primary role is the prevention of emergency situations and, where this fails, the timely and effective
resolution of emergencies. Lifeguarding is a fun, exciting and rewarding job that carries enormous
responsibility. 100% attendance & participation mandatory! Course length: 40 hours
