Human Resources
Location:
Samaritan Pacific
Hospital The Chamber would like to introduce you to the 33 participants in this year’s Leadership Lincoln program.
We’d like to give you an opportunity to learn a little more about some of the members of this year’s class. Below
are three participants and in subsequent issues of this newsletter, we’ll profile the remainder of the group.
Lisa R. Davis is the Assistant General Manager for the Overleaf Lodge & Spa in Yachats.
Lisa likes her job because it allows freedom to serve her guests as she sees fit, knowing that her
company will support her decisions. Lisa joined Leadership Lincoln to gain leadership skills and
ideas and to network with the business community. When Lisa is not working, she likes to hike, ski,
paraglide and walk her dogs on the beach. She also likes to travel when time allows.
Judy Kuhl is the Assistant General Manager for the Embarcadero Resort. Judy enjoys
challenges she faces at work, and them solving them in a strategic manor. Judy joined Leadership
Lincoln to learn more about leadership concepts. When Judy is not working, she likes to putter
around the house and work in her yard.
Angel Serrato is the Assistant Manager of the Engineering Department for Samaritan
Pacific Communities Health Service in Newport. What Angel likes best about his job is the variety of
people he works with in the different aspects of health care. Angel joined Leadership Lincoln to
network with other community leaders and to develop better leadership skills. When Angel is not
working, he likes to spend time with his family, go camping, boating, hiking and fishing.

The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce is pleased
to present the first Beautification Award of 2011 to
OSU Federal Credit Union. Newport’s OSU Federal
Credit Union recently got more than a facelift. They got
an entirely new building and location. In keeping with a
small coastal community’s unspoken rule of simplicity,
OSU Federal Credit Union’s new structure sports a
stylish mixture of glass and brick. More importantly, it
features an efficient, structurally effective drive-thru
area that panders to a patron’s need to remain dry. A
three-lane outside section, two for customer service, one
for ATM purposes, ensures that the lobby area does not become overcrowded. Although OSU Federal
Credit Union’s new building is receiving a Beautification Award, one could argue that the smiles on the
faces of its employees, are equally attractive.
The Chamber’s Hospitality Committee is please to announce Safeway’s Alan Hatman as the January 2011
Employee of the Month! For the past seven years, Safeway Inc located in Pacific Plaza, has been fortunate
to have Alan Hatman as a trusted employee. Alan brings many skills to his job, an important one being his
friendliness. In an age when personal assistance is not considered “a given”, he continues to foster the
neighborhood spirit of service. Whether it is greeting a local resident by name when they enter the store,
or providing direct service rather giving vague directions to a questioning visitor, Alan demonstrates why
Newport is known as “the friendliest” town.
It is with pleasure that the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce presents Alan Hatman with the
January, 2011 Employee of the Month award. Alan’s admirable qualities are an asset not only to Safeway
Inc, but to the community at large.
The Newport Chamber of Commerce continues to
seek nominees that exemplify positive customer
service in our area. We encourage businesses to
nominate their employees. Nomination forms may
be downloaded from www.newportchamber.org or
you may call Bobbi at the Chamber office @
541-265-8801.
