We’d like to give you an opportunity to learn a little more about some of the members of this year’s class. Below are three participants and in subsequent issues of this newsletter, we’ll profile the remainder of the group. Jenny Demaris works for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office as their Emergency Manager. While at work, Jenny delights in the interaction with different levels of customers: “I have the privilege of serving all of the citizens of Lincoln County under the Sheriff's mission but I also have the benefit of interacting with the business, public safety agencies and community volunteer groups.” Jenny joined Leadership Lincoln to increase her knowledge base of the different aspects of Lincoln County. When Jenny is not working, she volunteers with Toledo Fire which allows her additional training and giving back to her community too. Christine Spurgeon is a Warrants/Transports Specialist with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. At work, Christine likes the contact with other agencies and the lessons learned from them. She also likes the excitement of her duties and its importance to the functions of the Sheriff’s office. Christine joined Leadership Lincoln to learn more about the program and its leadership lessons. When Christine is not working, she likes to walk, ride horses, and visit historic areas around Oregon and the US. Ernest “Ernie” Thompson works as the Resort Operations Director for Pacific Shores Motor Coach Resort in Newport. What Ernie likes most about his job is the variety of job challenges he faces daily. Ernie joined Leadership Lincoln for the opportunity to fine tune his leadership and management skills, to learn more about and become more involved in the Newport community. When Ernie is not working, he likes to relax, enjoy the ocean vista from his home, and explore the Oregon Coast with his wife.
