How to create a Ride Share listing in the Info Center Creating a ride share listing through the Wartburg Info Center is a safe and secure way to share a ride with people from the Wartburg community. Only people with secure Wartburg credentials can access your listing and see your contact information. Through ride share you can: • Find someone to share the travel costs. • Find someone who is willing to drive you. • Meet new people, and provide a needed service. • Reduce the carbon footprint of break time travel. STEP 1. Go to info.wartburg.edu. Click on the “Ride Share” image in the upper right corner. If you have not logged in to Info Center yet, you will be forwarded to the log in page, then taken to the classifieds listing. The classifieds page on the Info Center can be accessed any time from the navigation bar at the top. Check out the other listings before you create your own, you may find a match already in the system. STEP 2. Click on “Post New Item” to create your listing. STEP 3. Complete the information boxes as applicable. STEP 4. Your final listing will look like this. Review your posting to ensure accuracy. You are responsible for what it states. STEP 5. Don’t forget to delete your post once a ride share has been made. You do this by selecting “Edit” next to your post, and select “Delete” from the bottom. Please keep these Ride Share Etiquette points in mind while traveling. • Be on time. Decide how long the driver is expected to wait for passengers before leaving. • Be respectful of the driver’s vehicle. Agree beforehand on whether it is OK to smoke, eat or drink in the vehicle. Never leave trash in the vehicle. As a driver, keep your vehicle clean and tidy. • If you are driving, drive carefully and obey all traffic laws. Speeding and aggressive driving may make riders feel unsafe. Make sure all passengers are wearing their seat belts. • Be mindful of anything that might bother other riders/drivers. For example, excessive talking might distract the driver or bother people who prefer quiet. Talking on a mobile phone may also disturb some people, so make sure it’s OK with everyone first. • Clarify in advance the amount of luggage you will be bringing to ensure there is room. • Try to avoid requesting changes to the schedule and follow through on your commitments. This will create trust and show respect to your fellow ride sharers. Don’t make unexpected stops for errands unless it is agreed upon by all ride share members. • Be considerate of passengers when listening to music, news or talk radio. • Avoid wearing products with strong scents. Strong perfumes, colognes or hair products may be irritating to others in the car. Wartburg College Sustainability 12/2015
