Learn More about the Hospital District
Bond Program at Luncheon, Oct. 8
The Grapevine Chamber of
Commerce is proud to have Jill
“J.R.” Labbe, Vice President of
Communications and Community Affairs, and Scott Rule, Vice
President and Chief of Staff, for
JPS Health Network speak about
the Proposed Hospital Bond Program. The luncheon, sponsored
by Northstar Bank of Texas and
catered by Righteous Ribs, will
be Thursday, October 8, at 11:30
a.m., at the Grapevine Convention Center.
Prior to joining JPS in
2012, Labbe was the editorial
director for the Fort Worth StarTelegram. When she was hired
in 1992 as editorial director
for the Arlington edition of the
newspaper, she was the first
fulltime female editorial writer
in the newspaper’s history.
Labbe went to the StarTelegram after serving as editor
of the A.H. Belo Corp.’s Grand
Prairie Daily News. Her work
experience prior to newspapers
includes a stint as a national
public relations coordinator for
Ringling Bros. and Barnum &
Bailey Circus, and eight years
in hotel sales and marketing in
north Texas.
Labbe sits on the boards of
Goodwill Industries of Fort
Worth and the Tarrant Literacy
Coalition, a nonprofit agency
she helped found that advocates
for and provides training to lowliterate adults in Tarrant, Parker
and Johnson counties. She is a
member of the Board of Visitors
for the AddRan College of Liberal
Arts at Texas Christian University.
Labbe is a life member of
the Kansas University Alumni
Association, having spent four
great years of learning - and not
all of it in a classroom - at the
Lawrence campus.
Rule attended and graduated
from Baylor University with a BBA
in Finance, then completed his
MBA at Texas Tech University.
After nearly 7 years working in
operations and financial analysis,
lastly as Vice President of Planning
and Analysis with an investment
bank in Dallas, Rule earned his
Law degree from Texas Wesleyan
University. Rule was admitted to

the Texas Bar in May of 1997.
Rule practiced law in-house
for financial services firms and
an insurance holding company
system as Associate General
Counsel before joining JPS
as Vice President of Planning
and Analysis in September of
2009 where he oversees real
estate,
planning,
insurance
procurement, legal services, and
other administrative areas.
Make plans to attend the
luncheon at the Grapevine
Convention Center, located at
1209 S. Main St. (at the corner of
Vine St. & Municipal Way). The
cost is $25 with a reservation by 5
p.m., Tuesday, October 6, or $40
after that date. There is a $5 fee
for invoicing, and all reservations
not canceled by 1 p.m. the
Wednesday of the luncheon will
be billed. Please note that the late
registration and walk-in fee has
been increased to $40, and please

Join the Women’s Division for the Holiday Hoedown, Nov. 12!
October is the perfect month for the cooler weather, football and gearing up for the holiday
season. Let’s all get ready for our annual Holiday Hoedown, Thursday, November 12, at Austin
Ranch at Hilton DFW Lakes. Raffle tickets and event tickets are available from Women’s Division
members and online through the Chamber event calendar at www.GrapevineChamber.org. It is
sure to be another great event put on by members of the Women’s Division.
Thank you to GRACE and Shonda Schaefer for being our September luncheon sponsor. The
September luncheon program was a history of the grape production and wine industry in Texas.
Debbie Reynolds of the Wine, Grapes and the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association
informed us of many little known facts about the wine industry in Texas, such as the time
many decades ago when France and other wine producing countries in Europe had a devastating fungus destroy their
vineyards. During that time, they came to Texas to acquire “good hardy grape stock.” So France can thank Texas for
all of their current wine production.
A big kuddos to Emily McRoberts of Homestead Winery for her effort getting volunteer to fill
the Women’s Division beer booth shifts during Grape Fest. Those funds are needed annually for
our service projects. Thank you to all the members and their work peers, family and friends that
helped in the volunteer effort.
We’re looking forward to our annual Women’s Division Chili Cook Off, which will be our
October meeting. Don’t forget it will begin in the early evening at 5:30 p.m. Homestead Winery
with Emily McRoberts will be our sponsor and location. The next day we will be interviewing
senior clients of GRACE who have been waiting patiently for our members to come and get their
list of wishes for our annual Christmas Spirit program.
Great work women of the Women’s Division of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce - working hard and serving
the Grapevine community. See you all at our next meeting October 20, 5:30 p.m. at Homestead Winery for our Chili
Cook Off!
