Remember in Prayer
Our Stewardship
of Treasure
As members of the parish faith community, it is our
responsibility to remember both in concrete and
spiritual ways those who cannot celebrate with us each
week because they are ill. Those who are sick in turn, remember all of us daily in their prayers and in their sufferings.

LAUDATO SI — WE ALL NEED TO CARE FOR OUR COMON HOME
Pope Francis' new encyclical "Laudato Si:' On Care for Our Common Home" is addressed to "every person living on this
planet." That means you. And, come to think of it, the encyclical also would apply to the astronauts living in the
Interna onal Space Sta on, even though technically they're not on this planet.
CHAPTER SIX -- ECCOLOGICAL EDUCATION AND SPIRITUALITY
VI. SACRAMENTAL SIGNS AND THE CELEBRATION
OF REST
233.The ideal is not only to pass from the exterior to the interior to discover the ac on of
God in the soul, but also to discover God in
all things. Saint Bonaventure teaches us
that “contempla on deepens the more we
feel the working of God’s grace within our
hearts, and the be er we learn to encounter God in creatures outside ourselves”.
236.In the Eucharist, fullness is already
achieved; it is the living centre of the universe, the overflowing core of love and of inexhaus ble life.
Joined to the incarnate Son, present in the Eucharist, the whole cosmos gives thanks to God. Indeed the
Eucharist is itself an act of cosmic love: “Yes, cosmic! Because even when it is celebrated on the humble
altar of a country church, the Eucharist is always in some way celebrated on the altar of the world.”
VII. THE TRINITY AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CREATURES 238
VIII. QUEEN OF ALL CREATION 241
241. Mary, the Mother who cared for Jesus, now cares with maternal affec on and pain for this
wounded world. Just as her pierced heart mourned the death of Jesus, so now she grieves for the
sufferings of the crucified poor and for the creatures of this world laid waste by human power.
IX. BEYOND THE SUN 243
243. At the end, we will find ourselves face to face with the infinite beauty of God (cf. 1 Cor 13:12),
and be able to read with admira on and happiness the mystery .
The importance of environmental educa on cannot be underes mated. It is able to affect ac ons and daily
habits, the reduc on of water consump on, the sor ng of waste and even “turning off unnecessary
lights”: “An integral ecology is also made up of simple daily gestures
which break with the logic of violence, exploita on and selfishness”.
Everything will be easier star ng with a contempla ve outlook that
comes from faith: “as believers, we do not look at the world from
without but from within, conscious of the bonds with which the Father has linked us with all beings. By developing our individual, Godgiven capaci es, an ecological conversion can inspire us to greater
crea vity and enthusiasm .

Przyjmujemy chętnych w wieku 18 – 40 lat. Koszt
pielgrzymki wynosi około $3200. Jako parafia mamy zamiar
poprzez różne akcje nazbierać dodatkową sumę pieniędzy
dzięki, której obniźymy koszty związane z pielgrzymką. Na
początku września mamy zamiar zorganizować pierwsze
spotkanie formacyjno-informacyjne, na którym udzielimy
szczegółowych informacji. Czekamy na wasze zgłoszenia.

ON KNOWLEDGE, WISDOM, FAITH
Copyright 2015 by John B. Reynolds (john@jrwrites.com)
I’ve never used one myself, but over the years, I’ve seen several
work colleagues add well-known inspira onal tag lines beneath
their email signatures. Things like “Quality is not an act, but a
habit.” Or “In order to succeed, your desire for success should be
greater than your fear of failure.” Or “Keep always green the tree
in your heart, and shining, the sun in your soul” (OK – I just made
that last one up). My current favorite--Knowledge is knowing that
a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is knowing to not put it in a fruit salad-is one I saw quite a while back but it comes to mind today as I
consider the readings for this 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
And the reading in par cular that brings this to mind is the first
reading, from Proverbs (which was wri en in part by Solomon,
who most of us agree had a pre y good head on his shoulders):
“Wisdom has built her house,” he begins, “She has set up her
seven columns; she has dressed her meat, mixed her wine; yes,
she has spread her table.” Is anybody hungry yet? I’m hungry…
“She has sent out her maidens; she calls from the heights out over
the city: ‘Let whoever is simple turn in here;’ To the one who lacks
understanding, she says, ‘Come, eat of my food, and drink of the
wine I have mixed! Forsake foolishness that you may live; advance
in the way of understanding.’”
Paul’s Le er to the Ephesians also addresses wisdom, and it
should give us all pause. “Brothers and sisters,” he says, “watch
carefully how you live, not as foolish persons but as wise, making
the most of opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore, do
not con nue in ignorance, but try to understand what is the will of
the Lord.” Do you remember a couple of weeks ago when the
crowd asked Jesus, “What can we do to accomplish the works of
God?” Do you remember what Jesus said? He said: This is the work
of God, that you believe in the one he sent.” And this is where the
lines between knowledge and wisdom and faith begin to blur.
Knowledge and wisdom--conven onal wisdom, anyway-- can box
us in. The crowds in Jesus’ day come to know that he performs
mighty deeds. I’d call that knowledge. They come to understand
more deeply that he’s a man of God. I’d call that wisdom. A er
feeding the five thousand, Jesus has them ea ng out of his hand,
pre y much literally. But look what he does next. “I am the living
bread that came down from heaven,” he says. “Whoever eats this
bread will live forever, and the bread that I will give is my flesh for
the life of the world.” Huh? This is too much for many in the
crowd. And who can blame them? I mean, think of what Jesus is
asking them to subscribe to. Knowledge and conven onal wisdom
cannot help but balk at the Bread of Life discourse, but there
comes a me when we have to throw such things out the window.
And this, of course, is where faith comes in. It’s good to have
knowledge and wisdom. But faith can take us places that
knowledge and wisdom cannot. Tomatoes in a fruit salad? That’s
just crazy talk. But maybe…
