Usually we do one once a month. With the cleaning up of the base it causes me to not set the dates far in front because it may be in conflict with something they are doing. We will camp this summer. Farmers says it will be a hot summer but usually we can run them late at night and early in the morning. We may do one in early April I will post to the list the Friday before if it looks like we can. I will try to post some posted for the summer next month. Husky Hikes Many possible sites to hike were talked about at the meeting. Marie is going to check some of them out and see what might work for our group. If you have an idea for an area to hike (especially a beach one) Please drop Marie an email at SLEDDINGSHOPPER@pacbell.net Vaccine Clinic Twice a year BASH hosts a Vaccine Clinic. The vet that does this for us now has a regular vaccine clinic but she is kind enough to invite BASH members to come by and receive shots, heartworm tests and microchips at rescue rates. She holds the clinic on the 1 st Saturday of every month at Springdale Kennels, 520 Giuffrida Ave, San Jose, CA 95123 from 2 pm to 4 pm. All you need to do when filling out your paper is to say you with BASH. You can also buy flea, tick and heartworm products (the prices for this is competitive with others) All profits from all sales to BASH members comes back to BASH Paw Print Day Imprint your best friend’s paw print in clay and see it transformed onto an ornament, a picture frame or stepping stone complete with some nice phrase or just their name. This is a great way of remembering them when it is their time to cross the rainbow bridge. Randee has graciously volunteer her office space for the event! They asked us to give them 3 days and we can work on it from there. The days we are thinking about are Friday June 20, Saturday June 21…but not set yet…. So if you are interested in doing this, check the website or contact Randee at BASH@com-ctl.com for more information. It works like this…. The artist would come with all the gear and you would press their paws in to the mold. So if your dogs does not like their paws touched now is the time to get them use to being touched. You would sit down with the artist and she would show what are your choices based on your dog’s paw size. You would pick out color choices and words to include with your choice. PLEASE come prepared with your choice of words and have some backup in case your phrase is too long Cost of a set of paw prints (2 paws) is $59 and the price of your chosen keepsake varies from $20 for an ornament to $40+ for a stepping stone/plaque http://www.createitceramics.com/ Rescue March 2014 We will be working with Maddie’s Fund again this year on May 31st June 1st at Pet Food Express on Almaden Expressway. Beth Chamberlain 408-859-3101 b.d.c@comcast.net Olaf is a young adult male husky mix. He is is somewhat unsure of new people, but once he feels secure he is very affectionate. He walks well on a leash. We think he will fine as a single dog if there is someone home most of the time or will be ok with another dog to keep him company. He enjoys cuddling and hanging out with the family. He has done well with medium to large dogs he has meet. He investigates the cat in the house but he doesn't bother her, you can call him away. He needs training, but he should learn quickly. He has a sweet, happy personality that is evident after he warms up. He will do very well with gentle, patient guardian. Greta Huhtla-Koehn 510-796-1544 dkoehns@att.net Sitka is a beautiful black and silver Siberian husky with big brown eyes. she likes to cuddle once she gets comfortable with the person she is with. She walks ok on a leash but needs work. She does fine with other dogs and is a playmate for the dog in my house. She was an owner surrender because they felt that she and their other dog didn't get along.. She rides well in the car and loves going places. Randy Fishel randyf@sibernet.com Ryder is a very active, but cute young dog. Though listed as a little over a year, he could be younger or older. He has had some training, but doesn't have a lot of patience for behaving, and will need more. He has some separation issues, but is working on it, so he might do well in a home with another active dog. He is up to date on shots, is micochipped, appears to be potty trained, and takes to a crate (though he occasionally voices his displeasure).
