ME072 Peewee White received a special visit from Tyler McGregor from Canada's
National Sledge Hockey Team at the Caledon Tournament. As the youngest member of
Canada’s Gold medal winning team at the 2013 IPC World Championships, McGregor is on the
fast track to success in the sport. In 2009, as an able-bodied ice hockey player at the AAA level,
the 16-year-old McGregor broke his ankle and both bones in his leg, requiring a rod and six pins
in his leg. As the leg healed and he returned to playing ice hockey, a large lump developed on
the site of the original fracture. He was eventually diagnosed with Spindle Cell Sarcoma, a form
of soft tissue cancer, in January 2010. He underwent eight months of chemotherapy and an
amputation of his left leg.
McGregor returned to hockey with an amputee team, but quickly switched to sledge hockey. He
made his national team debut at 18 at the 2012 World Sledge Hockey Challenge in Calgary,
earning a goal and two assists as Canada won the silver medal. It was an honour for ME072 to
hear McGregor’s inspiring story, chat, and see his Gold medal.
The 2015/2016 Hockey season has come to end and what a year it was. Our teams
participated in many memorable hockey tournaments in several towns and cities in Ontario,
Quebec and the US. There were also many exciting Meadowvale events that happened this

On behalf of the entire MMHA Board of Directors, I want to personal thank you for another
great season. As Meadowvale strives to be the destination to play hockey in the MHL, this
couldn't be possible if it weren't for the all the passionate players, dedicated coaches,
volunteers and our committed MMHA Board.
2016/2017 marks our 40th anniversary! We have many cool events planned to celebrate this
milestone, including a new logo for our jersey. Until next season, enjoy your summer and time
with family and friends.

Develop new athletic skills by playing different summer sports
While many hockey players play hockey year round, it is also beneficial to play other sports. Baseball, tennis
and badminton develop good hand-eye co-ordination. Soccer, swimming and running are great cardio. Crosstraining also reduces burnout. Encourage your child to stay active and have FUN!

Championship two years in a row. The tournament took
place on April 8-9th at the Hershey
Centre. Both games were close with a
final score of 1-0 vs North Toronto.
