SMB Schwede Maschinenbau GmbH
Strapping technology for the Food Industry
About us
SMB Schwede Maschinenbau is one of the leading manufacturers of
high-performance strapping machinery using narrow plastic strap.
Developped and made in Germany, SMB technology is utilized worldwide.
SMB's modular product programme covers a broad range of
applications for a variety of industries. More than 30 years of
experience in process integration and optimization are our basis for
creating ideal customer solutions – frequently even with specific
advantages and benefits which are not available anywhere else.
Simply: One strap ahead!
The history of innovation and quality (1)
1965 Foundation of the predecessor of today’s SMB Schwede
Maschinenbau GmbH by Mr Horst Schwede
1972 The first strapping machine of SMB’s own development is
delivered: a fully automatic machine for newspaper industry
1987 Foundation of SMB Schwede Maschinenbau GmbH, specializing
in strapping technology
1991 Move to new company premises in Goldkronach
1996 SMB receives Innovation Award of Eastern Bavarian Technology
Transfer Institute e. V.
Continuous technological enhancement and development of a
modular product range for applications in various industries, for
example the ceramic industry.
The history of innovation and quality (2)
2008 Our situation at the end of the business year 2007/08:
SMB sold a total of more than 17,000 machines world-wide
SMB is supplying more than 1,100 machines every year
Leading the world's toughest market
In the USA, SMB is established as market leader in the newspaper industry. 29 of the "top 30" newspapers there work with
SMB technology. On the world's toughest market place, this can
hardly be a mere coincidence.
However, in the US our machines are
labelled as "Dynaric".
"It's a Dynaric" in the US is synonymous for
maximum production speed,
maximum availability,
minimum maintenance costs,
longest product life, and
lowest costs over the entire machine
life cycle.
Facts that set standards
Maintenance requirements:
Under normal operating conditions, the first maintenance routine at
the SMB sealing head is required after
2,000,000 strap cycles (standard machines) or
3,000,000 strap cycles (fully automatic machines)‫‏‬
Machine life cycle:
In the US – probably the world's toughest market – many SMB
machines are still operating, altough they have run for
more than 35,000,000 strap cycles
- and they are still working faultlessly.
Benefits for the food industry
SMB technology enables customers in the food industry
to strap hard products without loss of strap tension
to process PET and PP on one machine
Choose the material that is most economic for you!
Combined with the features characteristic for SMB, you achieve
a higher production speed,
a better rate of availability,
lower maintenance costs,
longer machine life cycles
... a higher total productivity rate of your machinery at lower costs
