The Stars shone brightly on
Saturday night!
What a spectacular event! Everyone's hard work of the
previous six weeks was generously rewarded by the
great success of the evening. We cannot thank the
volunteers, the guests and the community enough. And
a very very very big thank you to Lisa Maurer and Ros
Nicholson for their months (and months) of preparation,

Richard Cooper of Frostline
Productions created the film that was
shown halfway through, before the
"Fund-a-Project/Scholarship Fund"
paddle raise. Kudos and thanks to
everyone! We raised over $136,000!
We were very happy to have so many volunteers from
around our community. Our pictures don't do them
justice, but here are a few:
PNA Reach for the Stars 2013
If you would like to participate in the
"Fund-a-Project", it's not too late! We'd
love to have you join the vast majority of
the audience who gave anything from
$25 to $10,000 to help make PNA's
education a reality for the years to
come. Just use the "DONATE NOW"

Shannon, Stephanie, Michelle and Janice (coming all
the way from Kansas City to volunteer and attend the
event!) prep the bid sheets.

Susanne (a past parent) came to help decorate and
install artwork in the halls. Ros (Auction Co-Chair)
facilitates. If you didn't get to see the entry-way, it was
decorated with portraits of the teachers, done by their
students. All the portraits of all the staff and faculty are
now displayed in the hallways.
Steve, alumni parent (and board member) works on
Promo, among many other things. We are so grateful
for all our alumni and past parents who come to lend
their expertise, memory and hours of work. You keep
us strong!

Thank you to everyone who worked, asked, sweated,
created, read, asked again, wrote, spoke, taped, glued,
papered, rehearsed, called, licked envelopes, asked
some more, cooked, laughed, typed, cried, invented,
counted, babysat, drove, sang, volunteered, tied,
stapled, donated, edited, re-typed, attended,
entertained, decorated, and went out of their to say
thank you to their neighbor during the production of
Reach for the Stars Auction Gala. Your efforts are so
appreciated and have not gone unnoticed!

As of this writing, we've raised $396,815!
All of those dollars will go directly to support the
students and programs here at Pacific Northern
Academy. Thanks to your generosity, we are able to
provide a learning environment that goes beyond the
text book, outside the classroom, and into the world
that our students will one day be leaders in. We are
able to promote independent thinking and give
students the tools to be exceptional learners. And we
are able to make PNA possible for over 15% of our
student body through our tuition assistance program.
While working on the video we played at the
gala, every child interviewed told me, on their own
initiative, the part of PNA they love the most is our
community. They like that everyone knows their name.
They value their teachers, and the security of knowing
they can grow up here, learn to communicate and that
at the end of the day their friends accept them for who
they are.
Their advice? Take it one day at a time. Enjoy. Be silly,
be serious, but don't worry. What matters the most is
that life is to be explored; that they learn something
concrete admist a tumoult of fun. And that the next day
they look forward to doing it all again.
For many students, PNA is the right choice.
Thanks to the support of you, our community, it can
be.
