FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LIVE! For 107
Local Radio Station 107.1FM to Broadcast LIVE for 107 hours straight to help combat the Jersey
Shore Heroin Epidemic!
107.1FM, a Press Communications, LLC Radio station, together with its listeners, advertisers and
sister stations B98.5 and Thunder 106 are holding an event to bring awareness and provide
resources to the community regarding the Heroin Epidemic at the Jersey Shore. 107.1FM will
broadcast LIVE for 107 CONSECUTIVE hours at three local malls for an event known as “LIVE! For
107”.
107.1FM’s morning Personalities Nina and Tom, better known as “Pork Roll and Eggs” along will
the Vice President of Programming, AJ Colantoni, will set up studios in the parking lots of the
Freehold Raceway Mall, Monmouth Mall and Ocean County Mall beginning Monday, May 19th at
6am and continue non-stop through Friday, May 23rd at 5pm.
Stationary bikes will be set up at each location and listeners will be encouraged to stop by and ride
for the cause, donate money or share stories or words of encouragement.
Press Communications, LLC embarked on this truly ground breaking event because they felt that
as a “family” owned local business that has operated in NJ for over 110 years; that no other
company should be at the forefront of this effort other than them! General Manager Richard
Morena went on to state, “Opiate/Heroin usage in Monmouth-Ocean County is ranked at some of
the highest levels in the entire US and it’s time to do something to bring awareness to this
epidemic.”
Press Communications, LLC is working directly with the Monmouth and Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office to utilize their radio airwaves to deliver the message to all that this is an epidemic that
affects everyone and is not limited to certain families or neighborhoods.
Marketing Director, Diana Pellegrino who is spearheading this event stated that “We need everyone including community leaders, parents, kids, school athletes and business owners to support
this effort and come join us during the 107 hours to raise the awareness and funds to fight this
pandemic.” Everyone participating will be asked to sign a wall and pledge their dedication to be
active participants in spreading awareness and helping to STOP drug use.
107.1FM will be running a “People Powered Radio Station” with stationary bikes that will be set
up at each location and locals will be encouraged to stop by and ride to help “power the station”,
donate money or share stories or words of encouragement. “The numbers of Heroin Overdoses
and deaths in our own backyards is staggering! We may be exhausted and delirious by staying up
so long, but if it helps to raise the awareness of this problem, get parents talking with their kids,
or helps even one person decide to seek help or choose NOT to take the drug then it’s worth it”,
said AJ Colantoni, Vice President of Programming and morning show personality on Pork Roll and
Eggs.
Press Communications, LLC’s goal is to ride a minimum of 25,000 miles on the bikes. The
Company’s Chairman, Mr. Jules L. Plangere, Jr. and the Jules L. Plangere, Jr. Family Foundation will
donate $1 for each mile peddled for a total of $25,000. Donations will also be accepted from all
who ride with 100% of the monies collected going to local charities that fully fund recovery
programs for those with no money or insurance who want help kicking this addiction.
