KOINONIA SCHOOL PARTICIPATES IN
“Youth Call 2 Prayer Canada”
by Sandra Sergeant, Principal CCS
Superintendents’ note: This article is
particularly timely in light of the recent
tragic events on Parliament Hill.
On Monday, May 26, 2014, students,
staff and chaperones from Fort Saskatchewan Christian School, Cornerstone Christian School in Medicine Hat,
Vegreville Composite High School and
Maple Creek Worship Centre joined
together to spend a week at the National House of Prayer (NHOP) in
Ottawa.
The student team of eight quickly solidified as one in spirit as was evidenced
when an impromptu worship team
formed and led our group in Matt Maher’s “I Need You” on our first evening.
It was not an uncommon occurrence to
hear the students worshipping on their
own after the day’s activities were
done. As a supervisor, I was not eager
to stop them when curfew approached!

their disappointment when it was time to leave. I am reminded of Paul’s admonition to Timothy: “Don’t let anyone look
down upon you because you are young, but set an example for
the believer in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”
These students surely do all this and more. My thanks go to

Members of Parliament and interviewed Nanaimo BC’s MP,
James Lunney, after sharing an evening meal. This was
exciting for the students as they prayed for a specific issue
with which he was concerned and was meeting with the
Prime Minister’s office the following day. It was so rewarding to hear their excitement when we received word that
God had answered their prayers EXACTLY as they had
prayed.
One of the tasks given to the students was to prepare a
Scripture declaration to be spoken over Canada and her
leaders at the Peace Tower. While this was a powerful time
in and of itself, we saw God move in an extraordinary way.
