Achievement and Aptitude The easy-to-use CTB Online Reporting System provides understandable, actionable information you can present to key stakeholders to guide instruction and meet the needs of every student. Quick and easy access to student performance data is critical to making timely strategic decisions. Educators need to combine objective mastery data with aptitude data to understand how students are achieving relative to their potential in the core subjects of math, reading, language, science and social studies. With this data they can learn how mastery levels can highlight areas of success as well as opportunities for student improvement. To obtain this mastery level data the CTB Online Reporting System can be tailored for each individual user. For example: – T eachers want a student ranking report to see the degree by which individual students mastered specific learning objectives. – District Administrators can view summary data or multiple data sets to find trends over time. – Principals can view their school performance compared to the district and see how each class is doing over time. – Superintendents can quickly access all schools for a summary of district and school performance. – P arents can use the Student Profile Report to see how their student has mastered the learning objectives of TerraNova and can learn from the teacher where their child is ranked among other students in the nation. • Inform classroom instruction and differentiate instruction by ranking and sorting student scores to reveal strengths and weaknesses. Use that data to make decisions about resource allocation, and academic pacing so that teachers can differentiate instruction within their classrooms based on students’ specific learning needs. • D ifferentiate instruction to close achievement gaps and accelerate learning with student achievement and language proficiency data at your fingertips. Accurate data offer key diagnostic insights and can help you target instruction by allowing you to pinpoint special populations, generate reports that track a path to language proficiency, or highlight specific subject areas or learning objectives that require additional remediation. With the CTB Online Reporting System, you can differentiate instruction to maximize each student’s assessment and language proficiency growth by meeting each student where he or she is, and assisting in their learning process. 5 • Identify and target groups of students, based on their student assessment or language proficiency data. LAS Links—Customization Filters Score Guide: Provides an overview of all the score types available in the CTB Online Reporting System. Create and customize reports with intuitive, wizard-based report definitions and filters, helping you save time and simplify support and training requirements. Filters are available by selecting tabs at the top of each page. These filters allow for quick modification and customization of reports. Changes may be made to multiple tabs at once before clicking “Submit.” 8 The Test Date tab helps you provide consistency of reporting. You create a report only once, and it can be used again year after year by simply changing the grades and dates on the report. TerraNova —Test Date Tab The Test Date tab allows you to toggle between administration dates and change grades you wish to view. Use this tab after a report template has been created to easily move between years and grades for a consistent, cross-grade view of similar data sets. LAS Links—Test Date Tab The Stats tab is your door to all of the assessment scores available from your testing program. Create summaries based on student achievement using TerraNova scores and/or access your LAS Links scores to build reports that highlight and summarize student proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. TerraNova —Stats Tab Within the Stats tab you can isolate specific subtests for a focused understanding of proficiency and achievement or create a summary report that broadly showcases all your summary data. Drill down to what you want to see, tailored to what you need. The CTB Online Reporting System provides you with tools to create reports that have the look you want —your imagination is the only limitation. LAS Links—Stats Tab 9 In order to see a full diagnostic profile of students you can use the Disaggregate tab to look at data from different angles and isolate information to get a better understanding of your data as a whole. You can use this disaggregated data for program evaluation, accountability, and professional development requirements. TerraNova —Filters Tab With disaggregation you can tailor your data to your own student populations. If your school or district tracks special populations, the CTB Online Reporting System allows you to disaggregate and filter data by these populations. Using just a few clicks of the mouse you can disaggregate an entire grade by multiple demographic variables. Filter a summary report by ethnicity or by LEP/ELL to analyze trends by these subgroups. The ability to see trends down to the student level helps teachers target instruction in the classroom. The ability to quickly and easily drill down to student level detail means teachers can spend less time sorting through data and more time revising lesson plans that target specific student needs. TerraNova —Disaggregate Tab LAS Links—Disaggregate Tab 10 Use the Filters tab to include or exclude students based on demographic characteristics. To include a subgroup, click on the desired demographic variable from the drop-down list. Filters allow you to choose more than one demographic at a time to provide a narrower focus that can address unique school or district specific objectives. To select more than one subgroup, simply click on another demographic variable. Then, click on the word ‘and’ or ‘or’ to specify the logical relationship between the subgroups selected. ‘And’ will only show students who fall under all of the characteristics selected whereas ‘or’ will show students who fall under any one or more of the characteristics. You are not limited to just the predefined tabs to track your own student population of students. You can use special codes to generate reports that are tailored and unique for the populations in your school, district, or diocese. The choices are endless. No longer do you need to sort through stacks of paper to find summary data by filter or special code. With the CTB Online Reporting System you can access filtered data or user-defined special codes online making it fast and easy to get the data you need to drive student achievement. TerraNova —User Defined Special Codes LAS Links—User Defined Special Codes The Other tab can be used to change the number of groups (like schools or classes) shown per page and hide scores for number of students tested less than a desired number. For example, to hide scores for groups of students with fewer than 20 students, click on the check box next to “Hide scores” and type 20 in the text box. Click “Submit” and the report will now show only groups with more than 20 students tested. TerraNova —Other Tab LAS Links—Other Tab LAS Links—Filters Tab 11 TerraNova & LAS Links -Summary Charts Pie Chart The Summary Charts provide a summary report in the form of graphs, including bar charts, pie charts, and histograms. Summary Charts complement the Summary Reports with a visually appealing format that can provide district administrators and teachers with actionable information to inform instruction and modify their instructional approach. With the built-in Summary Charts you gain immediate access to your assessment results and share summary, classroom, and student data with key stakeholders to meet the needs of every student and improve performance at every level. These graphical representations help you gain a clear understanding of your data, thereby allowing you to identify the most effective classroom strategies and practices and measure progress against district, state, and federal standards. Histogram Bar Graph 12 The Roster Report provides a list of data (i.e. individual scores and information) for every student by test date, grade, and form/level. TerraNova —Roster Report You can easily drill down from summary to student level information and create roster reports by demographic groups, special populations or range of scores to target the students who need help. With a few simple clicks of the mouse you can instantly see your whole class roster. Use the Roster Scores to identify students who have high, medium, or low score correlations for more targeted teaching. Roster Scores allow for selection of which scores are shown in the report. LAS Link—Roster Report TerraNova —Roster Scores LAS Links—Roster Scores 13 A Plot scores against one another to understand whether or not scores between two subjects are tightly or loosely correlated. For example, you could choose Language and Reading NCE and see visually how the scores relate to one another. You can then use this information to plan effective programs, diagnose possible learning problems, or identify students requiring remediation. B Highlight specific students and drill to a roster report for targeted evaluation. C View multiple scores for a group of students by selecting a cluster of students as indicated by the blue boxes. This data can help you identify students who have high, medium, or low score correlations for more targeted teaching. 14 TerraNova and LAS Links - Scatter Plots A B C CTB Online Reporting System— Predefined Reports for TerraNova and LAS Links TerraNova —Individual Profile Report The Individual Profile Report for TerraNova generates individual reports for each student with a concise summary of the student’s performance in various subtests and objectives, including scores for InView/PTCS if the student took an aptitude test.
