Friends’ Newsletter
Our apologies that it has been
a while since the last newsletter
but there has been a great deal
of activity at Pengersick Castle:
from our first Open Day in
many years, lots of
improvements to the garden
and building and planning for
more opening opportunities
over the next few months.
Indeed the coming year is set
to be a very busy period
indeed.
The Pengersick Historic and
Education Trust continues to
strive forward in their
attempts to preserve the
historic significance of this
unique Tudor structure.
We value your continued
support and look forward to
hopefully seeing you soon,
whether at an event, as a
volunteer or just passing
through to say hello!
Friends Day’
On Sunday July 20th, 2014 from 1pm - 4pm
We hope to welcome you, as a friend, to an exclusive visit to
the castle, see all the changes, chat to trustees about future

JULY 2014
2013 Events
Last year saw lots of activity at the castle:
Garden Open Day
On the 26th of August we had our first open day for several
years. Visitors had the opportunity to stroll around the gardens,
have a guided tour of the Tudor tower and enjoy a cream tea
and chat to trustees about the future. Andrew George MP
popped along and it proved to be a very successful day, with
several hundred people passing through the gates.
French Film Crew
At the end of June 2013 we welcomed a film crew from France to
record a documentary style programme for Canal+. It was a huge
success and the programme entitled: RIP – RECHERCHES
INVESTIGATIONS PARANORMAL, focusing on paranormal
investigations was aired in April 2014.
Halloween Kids Trails
Over a period of 3 days at the end of October, the successful
Halloween Kids Trail was resurrected. Children attending followed
clues around the grounds for a prize, wore fancy dress and got the
opportunity to take part in a range of craft and art activities
Medieval Garden Award
After the completion in 2012 of the Medieval Garden
Structure, we were delighted and proud to learn that
Dan McLaughlin won The Cornish Distinctiveness
Design Award in April for his restoration. His award
and designs were featured in Cornwall Today
magazine
Ghost Nights
Pengersick is claimed to be the Most Haunted Location in the UK and we have been running ghost
nights since 2001. These continued this year and attendees claimed to have had lots of strange
experiences. These included strange noises, sightings feelings and peculiar images caught on camera.
We will be running nights throughout 2014, for details visit:
