2013 Business Person of the Year
Transforms lives with the Power of Music
Colleen McCormick has been picked as
the Marquis Business Person of the Year.
She and her husband John had this crazy idea
in the middle of a bad economy. Open a music
store and grow the community of local musicians. After all, Colleen and John met playing
in the Cal band. Needless to say, they accomplished their goals and they have flourished as
a unique local start up business. Since they opened, they have tripled their
size and now have two new partners sharing the space on Lafayette Circle.
Mighty Fine Guitars owned and operated by Colleen’s uncle, Stevie Coyle and
Renee DeWeese and Rena Wilson operate Lamorinda Theatre Academy upstairs. Investing in music education, sharing her love for music, and adding
fun to people’s life is what drives Colleen. Help celebrate the award by joining
Colleen, John, daughter Emily and son Scotty by attending the dinner in her
honor. For details see the flyer enclosed or visit the chamber website. Save
the date, Friday evening, February 1 at the Lafayette Park Hotel and Spa.
Upcoming Workshops
Are you looking to grow your business in 2013? Want to learn about cutting edge marketing techniques that don’t cost a lot of money? Join us for
our upcoming monthly marketing series starting in February 2013. We
begin with the importance of building customer and prospect lists, how
to cost effectively build those lists, the right ways to segment your lists and
how to market to your lists to increase profits. In March we’ll cover how
to use email and text marketing to get new customers, get existing customers to buy more often and how to get existing customers to buy bigger
when they do buy. Facilitating the workshop will be Don Wexler of Blast
My Biz and partner with Lightwave Media. The workshops will debut
on Tuesday, February 12 and March 12, 8:30am hosted by the Lafayette
Chamber in our conference room. Please sign up by email dwexler@blastmybiz.com $10 for each session for Lafayette Chamber members.
Speakers Needed for Career Day
Acalanes High School will be hosting their 4th CAREER DAY on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, and they are looking for people like you to step in
and share your career and stories. This exercise has led to students looking at career options early on. Deadline to RSVP is Friday, January 18th.
Send your request to jkarr@acalanes.k12.ca.us. We know you have been
dying to tell your story. Don’t miss your 15 minutes.
