Hi,
I’m Isabel.
I’m a communication designer
with ten years work experience
in the creative industry.
I understand communication design
as the skill to create the right visual
language to communicate a message
and achieve the desired outcome.
I’m passionate about photography,
my fiancé, our Freo cottage and
long walks on the beach.
I am PADC’s ‘Designer of the Year 2009’.

Founded in 1953 the Perth International Arts Festival
is the oldest international arts festival in Australia.
The Festival connects with over 300,000 people each
year who attend theatre, dance, music, film, visual
arts and literature events.
As lead designer on the Festival’s branding I
developed the brochure, website and various other
promotion material for the Festivals ‘07, ‘08 and ‘09.
I was also asked to provide ideas for the Festival’s
new venue ‘Beck’s Music Box’ at Perth’s Foreshore.

myo
rebranding and
store design
Established in 1994, MYO is a unique self-service
lunch system, which invites patrons to ‘Make
Your Own’ sandwiches, salads and pizzas using a
selection of 65 ingredients. With 19 branches
in Australia and 11 in Europe and Canada, MYO
hopes to expand its franchise to 50 Australian
stores by 2011.
Asked to rebrand the stores I created a fresh and
simple look and feel for in-store, promotion and
communication materials and documented this
in a styleguide, so that new stores could be set up
according to the brand guidelines.

Match is a boutique developer specialising in
design-focused residential and commercial projects.
Match creates buildings that are sensitive to both
the heritage and urban environments and are
contemporary statements in functionality and style.
Having designed Match’s corporate branding I was
then responsible for developing a range of different
brand identities for their various building projects.

Block is an award-winning brand development and
management agency. Through Block Consulting,
Block Branding and Block Imagining, the company
offers strategic, creative and production services
to local and international clients.
As Block’s senior designer for the last three and
a half years I have been responsible for the design
of Block communication and promotion material
including the development of the company’s
new website.

All of us at Block would love for you to join

of Scotland’s Black Watch.
Black Watch is one of the highlights of this
year’s Perth International Arts Festival. Since
its spectacular debut at the Edinburgh Festival,
Black Watch has played to sellout audiences and,
as major sponsors of the Festival 08, Block are
proud to be able to support its Perth season.
Black Watch opens on the opening night of the
Festival and we would like you to join us for a
special, early performance at 6pm and then walk
down to the foreshore to watch the French group
Ilotopie celebrate the Festival opening. Their
amazing performance Water Fools will take place
on the river at 9pm.

love freo
photography and
brand development
Together with two friends I founded Love Freo
earlier this year. Love Freo aims to capture
and document Fremantle’s unique atmosphere
and share it.
Being a keen photographer I used my images
of Fremantle to design a range of postcards,
art prints and a calendar. Love Freo also runs a
blog on Fremantle which attracts around 1000
visitors each week and has been featured on the
City of Fremantle’s website.
One of my Fremantle photographs was
nominated a winner in Corbis’ national
‘Creatives behind the lens’ competition. It is
now part of an exhibition at the Museum of
Contemporary Art in Sydney this November.

festival branding
Revelation Film Festival is Australia’s most
individual cinema event, showcasing a range of
short, feature, documentary, archival and animated
works. The branding had to embrace and express
the independent spirit and quality of the event.
I asked Dutch tattoo artist Angelique Houtkamp,
who is renowned the world over, to design the
ultimate ‘old skool’ tattoo. The motto ‘independent
’til the end’ is proudly emblazoned on a roll of film
which stretches across the emblem.
The look and feel of all promotional material is a mix
between rough outlaw and old seafearer’s charme.

argyle pink diamonds
tender publication
Pink diamonds are the rarest of the rare. The Argyle
diamond mine in WA’s North produces 90% of the
world’s production of pink diamonds. Pink diamonds
represent only 0.1% of the mine’s output. Each year
fewer than 50 signature pink diamonds are released
by Argyle Pink Diamonds.
The diamonds are released via an exclusive global
tender. Only 300 diamond dealers from around the
world are invited to attend showings of the diamonds
and bid in a blind-bidding process on the stones.
Carat-for-carat Argyle Pink Diamonds sell for 20
times the price of white diamonds.
The unique quality and rarity of these exclusive
diamonds was reflected in the design and
craftsmanship of this tender publication, for which
I was awarded ‘Designer of the Year’ in the 2009
PADC Awards.
