Pastor’s Message… continued
Goodbye ….
As I leave I want to share some of the giftedness of Elk River Lutheran:
! Your staff – I can honestly say that as I worked with these staff members I was overwhelmed
with their abilities to do and grow the ministry at Elk River Lutheran. It has been a gift to work
with them and share ministry with them.
o Loren: I have never worked with an office manager as competent and creative as
Loren. She truly cares for each of you, is able to design/craft a product that is
exceptional, and she loves new challenges. I have always been amazed by and
thankful for her and all that she does for everyone at Elk River Lutheran Church.
o Kari: As you move forward she easily will keep the continuity and creativity of the CYF
program moving forward. Her heart is in this congregation. All of the programs under
her care have grown and flourished this past year.
o Taylor: He is gifted, challenges the music volunteers to sing from the heart, is able to
easily flow between traditional and praise music and lights up the church with his Spirit.
He is a blessing and you can see it in the eyes of the choir as they soar under his
direction.
o Bea: When needed she simply stepped in and has provided the congregation with
the gift of music. As an extraordinary musician she makes worship easy and Spirit-filled.
She is a blessing.
o Brian: He works behind the scenes to make his church a place of hospitality and a
delight to all who enter Elk River Lutheran. He is proud of his church, cares that the
members and guests who use the building find it clean and accessible. He goes
beyond to provide for funerals, special events and everyday ministries.
o Ashley: She has shared her heart with the children in the nursery and made it a safe
haven for children/parents.
! The people of Elk River Lutheran o Your council and teams – who are filled with members, who love this community, want
to expand the ministry and have an excitement about the Spirit at work at Elk River
Lutheran. New members have immediately stepped into leadership roles and have
offered a new perspective on ministry. Again, you are truly blessed!
o The volunteers - who make ministry look easy and keep everything from worship to
hospitality to heating attended to and seamlessly moving forward. It is amazing how
you love, support and are proud of your church and God’s Spirit of inclusion and
invitation in this place.
o The people of Elk River Lutheran – both members and guests, who offer their prayers,
share hospitality and welcome around the table, invite their friends and neighbors to
experience God’s work in this place and truly are a beacon to the community.
Goodbye … God be with you!
Pray for me, and of course Jim, as I begin my next phase of ministry as a settled pastor at Wooddale
Lutheran. I begin on May 15th and am installed on June 14th. Together we all follow the Spirit and
the direction of God in our lives.
To the Glory of God!
Blessings,
Pastor Heidi

We rejoice at Elk River Lutheran Church with the fact that we have completed our

first year as an
organized
congregation and our second year in our great location. Now we wait in
!
anticipation !of our new pastor. For the next few months we need to only take on the challenge of
maintaining !our energy level, ourselves – both spiritually and physically – and our facility.
!
My challenge to this wonderful congregation for the next few months is twofold:

hello to now.
The better a family knows each other, strengths and weaknesses, the stronger we
become.!

Our bridge interim
pastors are here to maintain our current energy level and not to make any changes.

They have been

in the office, staff support, hospital visits and in home communion and visits. The only

“project” we! are working on over the summer until our new pastor arrives is updating what our volunteer
positions do and expanding our volunteers! Pam Black is launching that initiative.!

Huge Thanks!
Thank you to our dedicated Sunday school teaching staff! We intentionally place two people in each
classroom to allow for weeks off for each teacher, but the vast majority of this group chose to be with
the students as a team every week instead!

Thanks for your amazing support of our Applebee's
