2016 Annual Auction
Dear Calvin Christian families and friends,
Welcome to the 2016 Dutch Festival, a day of fun and fellowship for your whole family.
It is with much anticipation that we bring you the booklet for the auction.
The Dutch Festival's main purpose is to raise funds to help supplement the budget of
Calvin Christian School. The proceeds brought in from the food you purchase, the games
your kids play to the auction item you bid on, will help cover non-budgeted expenses for
Calvin. This in turn helps ensure that the school can continue to provide a high quality,
Christian education for over 400 students.
Today, our goal is to raise $85,000 for several important purposes. The first item on the
list is the much anticipated remodeling of the boys restrooms on the elementary campus.

Secondly, the funds raised today will also support the Legacy Fund. The Legacy Fund
provides tuition assistance for those families who desire to keep their children at Calvin
Christian but may need additional assistance to make that happen. Whether it is an
unexpected illness, job loss, or reduction in income, help is available to those who can’t
afford the full cost of tuition.
This day would not be possible without all those who put in countless hours planning for
such a terrific festival. It truly takes a community to make this event happen. Thanks so
much to those who gave time and energy, and also those who donated items and money.
God continues to bless us in so many ways!
Finally, we want to thank all those who are attending. Please enjoy the day, savor the
fellowship, and all praise be to God from whom all blessings flow.

GHOST BIDDER – Can’t make it to the Dutch Festival, but still would like to bid on some items?
No problem, we can arrange a ghost bidder to bid on your behalf up to your set limit.
BID MATCHING DONOR – Not interested in a particular auction item, but want to participate,
support the school, motivate bidders and add some excitement to auction? No problem,
become a Bid Matching Donor. Choose an item from the live auction (or we can choose for
you) and agree to match the winning bid with a donation to the school for that same amount.
You can set a maximum dollar amount and remain anonymous if you choose.
Ghost Bidder and Bid Matching Donors must be arranged by 3pm April 22 by filling out a form
at either school office or contacting Doreen Broek at DFauction@calvinchristianescondido.org.

SILENT AUCTION RULES
The Silent Auction will open at 10:00 a.m. and will close in three sections.
The first closes at 12:00 a.m., the second at 12:15 p.m., and the final
section at 12:30 p.m.
• Please check in with the registration table to receive your secret bidder number. You will use
this number to place your bid on the bid-card.
• A bid-card is assigned to each item. You can bid on an item by writing your bid number and
the amount of your bid onto the card. Please respect the integrity of the auction process by
reading the minimum bid required (starting bid) as well as the minimum increment listed
(how much each bid must increase) on each bid-card.
• Nearly every silent auction item will also list a “Buy It Now” price. At any time before the
auction closes you may choose to skip the bidding process and purchase the desired item
immediately at the “Buy-It-Now” price. Please take the item AND the bid-card (or the bidcard only if the item is too large to carry) to the cashier. After payment is received, you are
free to take the item. We do have a storage area provided if you would like to store your
purchased item until the silent auction is completely closed.
• The Auction will be separated into three different colored sections which will close at three
different times. A warning will be called shortly before each section closes. When the
section is called closed NO ADDITIONAL bids may be written on the bid-card. The person,
whose bid number appears last with the highest bid, buys the item.
• Auction officials will take the bid cards as each section closes and the winning bids and
bidder number will be entered into the computer. The winners will be posted near the cashier
table soon after all the sections of the Silent Auction are closed.
• At the close of the auctions and after all the bid cards are entered into the computer, please
proceed to the cashiers table. The cashier will have a listing of your purchases by your secret
bid number or your name as soon as it has been inputted into their computer system. When
payment is received, you may take your items.
• Payments may be made by cash or check. Please make checks payable to “CCS Service
Group”.
