majorchangesrelevanttoallMonroeElectronicsOne-NetorDigitalAlertSystemsDASDECusers,twoof
whichinclude:
1. Formaladoptionof“sixzeroes”(000000)asanationallocation(FIPS)codeencompassing
everystateandcountyintheUnitedStatesanditsholdings
2. ProcessingtheNationalPeriodicTest(NPT)eventcodeimmediatelyuponreceiptandinthe
samemanoroftheEmergencyActionNotification(EAN)
ThisapplicationnoteprovidesguidancetoassuringVersion3.0userstheirdevicesareproperly
configuredforacceptingandprocessingtheEANandNPTeventcodes,notingtheymaybereceived
eitherbyCAPorover-the-air.ThefollowinginstructionsassumetheEASdevice(One-NetorDASDEC)
hasbeenpreviouslyconfigured,isworking,andtheuserisfamiliarwiththetermsandoperation–This
isNOTaninitialsetupguide.Therearetwosectionstotheseinstructions;A.ConfiguringtheCAP
Decoderand,B.ConfiguringtheNPTEventCode.
A. Configuring the CAP Decoder
1. LogintothedeviceusingyourUserNameandPassword.
2. GotoSetup>NetAlerts>CAPDecode
3. SelecttheappropriateclientconfiguredforIPAWSconnection,asintheexamplebelowwhere
theclient*IPAWSCAPischosenfromtheSelectCAPinputclientpull-downmenu.

UnitedStates(000000)andtheappropriatestateFIPSareincludedinthelist.

IfbothFIPS(000000)andtheappropriatestate(s)codesarepresent,clickCanceland
proceedtothenextsection–ConfiguringtheNPT(NationalPeriodicTest)EventCode.

IfeithertheUSFIPScodeand/ortheappropriatestate(s)codesareNOTpresentinthe
FIPSGroupcontinuetofollowthestepsbelow.
5. Intheexamplebelow,theselectedFIPSGroupisWesternNY,howeveritdoesnotincludethe
stateandUnitedStatesFIPScodes.NotingthenameoftheFIPSGroup,clicktheblueFIPSGroup
hyperlinktojumptotheSetup>AlertAgent™>FIPSGroupscreentoedittheFIPSGroup.

6. OnceattheManageFIPSLocationGroupListsscreen,locatetheappropriateFIPSGroupas
notedabove.Again,withthisexampleitisWesternNYthatrequiresediting.ClicktheEdit
buttonadjacenttothecorrectFIPSGroup.
7. TheselectedFIPSGroupwillexpandtoeditthegroup.ClicktheChooseFIPSStatepull-down
andselectUnitedStates(US)(00).
8. JustbelowtheChooseFIPSCountiesbox,selectAll(000)andclicktheAdd->buttontoadd
UnitedStates(000000)totheFIPSCodelisttotheright.

11. ReturntotheSetup>NetAlerts>CAPDecodescreenbyclickingtheBackbuttonintheheader

12. VerifytheUnitedStatesandstateFIPScodesarenowlisted.

15. Intheexampleabove,“Weather”istheselectednameinthepull-down.Clicktheblue
EASGrouphyperlinktojumptotheSetup>AlertAgent™>EASCodeGroupsscreentoeditthe
EASGroup“Weather”,addingEANandNPTtothelistfollowingthestepsbelow.
16. OnceattheManageEASCodeGroupListsscreen,locatetheappropriateEASGroupas
previouslynoted.Again,forthisexampletheWeatherlistrequiresediting.ClicktheEditbutton
adjacenttothecorrectEASGroup.
17. TheselectedEASGroupwillexpandtoeditthegroupandtheEAN:NATIONALEMERGENCY
ACTIONNOTIFICATIONandNPT:NATIONALPERIODICTESTwillautomaticallybeaddedtothe
EAScodeslist.
18. VerifytheNPTandEANcodeshavebeenaddedtothelistontherightandclicktheAccept
Changesbuttontocompletethischange.

B. Configuring the NPT (National Periodic Test) Event Code
FinalverificationshouldbedonetoassuretheAlertAgentwillforwardtheNPTeventcode.
1. GotoSetup>AlertAgent™>ManageAlertNodes
2. ThedefaultsettingsfortheNATIONALalertnodeareshownbelow.
3. IftheNATIONALalertnodesettingsarethesameasshownabove,anyEANorNPTwillbe
forwardedimmediatelyasaLiveevent.
