SHOW PREMIUM USEF/USDF Dressage1 September 21, 2016 Andalusian World Cup Dear Exhibitors, Owners, Spectators and Sponsors, September 21-24, 2016 We would like to welcome you to the third annual Andalusian World Cup, where the best horses in the world come to compete! South Point Hotel and Casino 9777 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89183 It was our vision to create a show that welcomed all Iberian horses and disciplines without prejudice or politics. A show that was fun and exciting for exhibitors, owners, spectators and sponsors. An unforgettable experience offered unparalleled competition, prizes, and prize money. If our inaugural show was any indication, we believe we have set the bar for a new type of horse show. Judges: This year’s schedule offers an array of classes, including an ANCCE sanctioned competition, classes just for Lusitanos (APSL), American style halter and performance classes, Working Equitation: Sponsored by Haras Dos Cavaleiros (open to all breeds) and a one-day USDF/USEF dressage show, including DSHB Classes. Supreme Championship Sweepstakes classes are offered as well; winners of these classes will not only walk away with bragging rights, but also cash awards, Supreme Championship coolers, trophies and take home rose blankets to commemorate the event. Please take this opportunity to consider trying something new this year! Maybe enter a rail or halter class if you are a dressage rider, or attempt a dressage test if you show in performance classes. This show is all about bringing everyone together and appreciating all the things our horses can do! If you have questions regarding any of the classes offered, rules or information about the venue, please either refer to our website or contact us. We encourage all competitors to sponsor at least one class, to ensure we are able to continue offering cash and prizes for future years. Saturday, Sept 24 will be a social day, with a lunch and auction for FPSH, followed by a social hour hosted by USPRE. Formal attire is encouraged and there will be a derby hat competition as well, so be sure to bring your finest headpiece. We are delighted to have you here! A great opportunity to meet up with old friends and make new ones. Semi – formal attire is encouraged and we will also be having a derby hat competition on this evening. For those of you not familiar with the FPSH Rescue, read on: The Foundation is about the Horse and only the Horse. Nowhere is this more evident than in the Rescue Program. Since its inception eight years ago, it has very quietly and without any promotion helped Pure Spanish Horses (P.R.E. Horses) in need. These gallant and worthwhile actions have been undertaken by only those directly involved in the process, without any sort of recognition for their good deeds. It is sometimes a very costly process to rescue a horse in need and find a loving home to take care of it for the rest of its life, but one which The Foundation is completely dedicated to preserve. The P.R.E. Horse community in our country is very small and because there are such negative connotations to the word rescue, The Foundation has chosen to provide this service on a confidential basis. There is no blame, no condemnation, and no disgrace ever assigned to anyone who asks for assistance with their horse or horses. There is only help. Many times the word rescue does not really apply. The Foundation receives some horses who are quite healthy, in good flesh, and just need a place to live in retirement or simply need to serve us in a different way. This process is more of a placement service for people who love this breed and want the best for their horses. In a recent survey done by a California Rescue, less than half of the 157 Equine Rescue Groups were registered with the IRS, even though they all advertised having non- profit status and actively collected donations. The element of trust is implied but not realized in many organizations. The Foundation has worked very diligently and purposely at becoming a trusted and honorable organization that serves our breed. It is because of this that we are the first thing people think of when they need assistance with their horses. We are proud of this and pledge to continue serving the needs of our wonderful horse. You would be amazed at how many horses The Foundation has helped in its years of history. SILENT AUCTION Señorito CIII Born May 18, 2013. USDF Statement on Animal Welfare The United States Dressage Federation, Inc. (USDF), a federation of 125 independent organizations throughout the United States with a membership in excess of 30,000 members, supports the concept of ethical treatment of animals. Dressage is a classical method of training horses, based upon the horse’s natural responses, as carried out in a gradual, planned program during which the horse’s athletic abilities are improved in a systematic manner. As a result, the horse becomes capable, comfortable, and responsive in partnership with the rider without the use of force. Dressage competition at various levels of achievement is the ultimate test of the training program to determine whether the desired harmony between horse and rider has been achieved. The rules pertaining to dressage competition prohibit the use of artificial appliances, training aids, and drugs, which would force the horse to submit. Instead, the emphasis is upon training and a cooperative partnership with the rider. Major competitions are carefully monitored to assure that there is no unnecessary force or harshness displayed. Unlike other horse sports in which horses enter training at a relatively immature state, dressage training is usually not seriously begun until the horse is three or four. The top levels of achievement require five or more years of progressive training and it is not unusual to see horses in international competition in their late teens. This, in itself, places a premium on good care and soundness throughout the horse’s life. While supporting the concept of animal welfare in its broadest form, the United States Dressage Federation, Inc., also recognizes that it is unrealistic to ascribe human emotions and responses to the horse which in its wild state is a creature of flight, living a hard and precarious existence. Under domestication, the horse is assured of ample food, water, and shelter, as well as protection against infectious diseases and damaging parasites, thus leading a longer and healthier life with a high rate of survival. Make your results count toward the USEF Horse of the Year Awards and Silver Stirrup Awards Programs with an annual or lifetime horse recording. Call or email today to speak with a customer care representative about how to get started. 859 258 2472 // customercare@usef.org 34 As an educational organization, USDF has numerous programs, which teach people how to pursue the accepted, humane training methods. A program of certifying instructors also emphasizes protecting the horse’s welfare in pursuit of dressage training.
