Welcome to another year of great tennis and
fun activities with amazing friends! We had our
first board meeting of the year last week and
there were some very good ideas for this
coming year. Be on the look out for emails
giving you information on the events.
Thank you to the new and past
Board members who have stepped up to help
again this year. We will all try to keep you
informed of upcoming Unstrung activities.
PLEASE let us know of any ideas you may
have to improve YOUR club!
As most of you know, John Hurst
is turning the position of Treasurer over to
Brian England after many years of keeping us
on the right track financially. I can't thank John
enough for all of the support he has given to
Unstrung!

Thank you to all of the loyal Open Tennis players who come every week
to play! We would love to have more of you come to play now and then or
all of the time.
We have a few ideas to add to Open Tennis this year. Maybe
another FREE Pizza night? Maybe some snacks to eat during tennis?
Maybe another “Crazy Socks” or “Crazy Hat Night”? Let me know if you
have some fresh new ideas.
REMEMBER!! If you bring a FIRST time guest to Open
Tennis, both of you play for FREE on ANY Friday or Sunday. We used to
only have one night a month that was guest night but I feel like it should be
any night so bring new faces to play.

Our Newest Members
Laura Burton
Laura grew up in Arizona and graduated from
Scottsdale High and ASU with a Bachelors in
Medical Technology and worked in several local
hospital laboratories. She retired a year ago so
she could enjoy more tennis and spend more time
with her twin daughters, her son and
grandchildren. She also enjoys biking and
sewing. Laura and her husband, Burt, have
hosted tournament parties at their lovely
home. Laura said she feels blessed to have met so
many fun and friendly people through tennis and
we are so happy Laura has joined Unstrung.
Mary Tessin
Mary Is from Omaha, NE and
came to Scottsdale in December
as a snowbird and will be with us
until March. She is a retired
educator. Mary is fun to be
around and we welcome her with
open arms.

Our first social event of 2016 is an opportunity to experience a unique scheduled tour, reserved
for our group, by a Docent at the base. There is a museum, a short movie and the chance to go
into some of the restored planes that were used during WW2.
Please go to the website for more information and photos.( My Dad donated some photographs
to the museum from his days as a gunner in a B-29 Superfort in the South Pacific.)
After the tour, which lasts about an hour and a half, we will head to Bellagio located on McKellips
3 minutes from Falcon Field.
As always, we must eat and drink after our strenuous social events!
