Winter 2007 A Fine Look Back... (continued from page 1) L an event online and the event coordinator can then get a package printed out prior to the event that covers the applicants, court reservations, and match format. We could eventually allow for payments online and coordinate payments with the city for the court reservation and lights. This would eliminate the need to handle cash at the tennis center and would also allow for better integration with the city. Well I have used up too much space and will hear it from Tim Waite, but I do want to thank everyone for great times and great memories. I look forward to the continued success of the VTC through 2007 and I am also looking forward to when our house is completed and I am out on the courts playing tennis. – Bob Martin President A Fine Look Back... Bob Martin I recently notified the Ventura Tennis Club Board of Directors that I am resigning as president and from the board. As you may imagine, it was NOT an easy decision and I had discussed it many times with Akemi and other members. look back over the past few years and we have seen many great things happen with the VTC. The club has grown quite a bit and the events are very popular and exciting. I have to thank our present (and past) board members for much of the success. The present members are Al Beridon, Linda Forsyth, Tim Waite, and Dave Redmond. It is only through their continued volunteer efforts that insures the success of the VTC. Nelson Emery is also an excellent advocate for the VTC and has helped us immensely with the good relationship we have with the city. Other people who have volunteered their time and are much appreciated are Andy Hoerer, Kent Bodin, Mark Hancock, Chuck Holstrom, and of course my wife Akemi. VTC President A ▲ PO Box 3005 Ventura CA 93006 TENNIS CLUB Ventura W Commission will strongly recommend to the City Council to move ahead with the project. It is at this point that we will be asking our members to get involved to either write letters, make calls, or to collect contri-butions in order to make this a reality. astly, I feel it is important that we automate some of our manual procedures that burden our volunteers. We should be able to get a web based application going that will allow our members to keep their personal information online, such as contact numbers, e-mail address, USTA level, and the type of events to be notified of. Of course, your information will be restricted by authentication and strict confidentiality policies such as those used by financial institutions. Other functions could include event automation whereas a member can sign up for e-mail: venturatennis@sdnweb.com www.venturatennisclub.com s for the future, I personally see some hurdles for the club in order to continue in the mode we have enjoyed in the past. As you all know, we can get farther with participation and monies when it comes to working with our local city. We just voted to increase the yearly dues to $30 from $25, which it has been for so many years. I want you all to know that any financial expenditures are allowed only with the consensus from the board, properly noted in the minutes, and presented in a financial report at each meeting. All members are welcome to the meetings and are encouraged to participate. e need four more courts at Camino Real Park, and I am hoping that we can maintain enough momentum from last year to see some significant movement this year.
