Chintheche Inn - Malawi Tourism
The Moon-Rock Festival is a three day celebration of local musical talent taking place at Chintheche Inn from October 12th -15th 2012. With no Lake of Stars taking place this year, Wilderness Safaris decided to host the Moon-Rock Festival to fill the gap and deliver a local talent based music event at the very place where Lake of Stars began – Chintheche Inn. The Festival will draw on a variety of local cultural and musical acts from across Malawi in an effort to highlight a diverse range of talent across the country. Bands, artists and DJ’s from all over Malawi representing a rich variety of genres will come together to perform in what we anticipate to be the musical highlight of the year. A percentage of the proceeds raised from the Moon-Rock Festival will go towards “Children in the Wilderness” (CITW), CITW is an environmental education and life skills programme run by Wilderness Safaris and various other sponsors. The programme focuses on developing the next generation of rural decision makers. It is aimed at bridging the divide that exists between communities and wildlife. Through the programme we teach the children the importance of conservation and strive to instil in the m a passion for the environment so that they become the custodians of wilderness areas in the future. The Moon-Rock Festival will take place on the Northern Lakeshore of Chintheche Inn in the Nkhata Bay District (home to Malawi’s best beach).
