“For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.”
Luke 12:34
Jesus encourages us to build up our treasure in heaven. The world encourages us to build up our treasure in real estate, investments, and material goods. How much time are you investing in building up a worldly treasure? How much
time are you investing in building up a heavenly treasure? To invest more time in the things of heaven, you must let go
of some of the things of this world.

Nurse’s Notes
Thank You from Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Back to School Time: August is time to get ready for school –
check your immunizations to be sure they are up-to-date. . To
check on the immunizations needed for school check
www.dhss.mo.gov/immunizations or call the Cole County
Health Department at 636-2161.
Plan with the family for healthy lunches at school – encourage
those fruits and vegetables! A tray of veggies with dip makes a
great after school snack along with some protein like peanut
butter or glass of milk. Don’t forget a good night’s sleep helps
with school, work and play. Remember your total health involves prayer, work, play, a good night’s rest and healthy eating. Remember, too, to pray for all our parishioners who are
hospitalized, homebound or in residential care, that they be
healed and comforted. If you would like to help with visiting
homebound please call Alice at the parish office.
Thank you to all our parishioners for their continued generosity to support our mission to help those in need in our
area.
A special thanks to Braun Storage for their generous
donation of storage space for the furniture.
St. Peter’s Health Committee: Our next meeting will be
Wednesday September 27 at 6:30-7:30 pm in the Notre Dame

help us plan for fall/winter activities.
Parish nurse office hours are by appointment. Please let us
know if you or a family member is hospitalized or homebound if

Perpetual Adoration:
"To keep me from sin and straying from Him, God
has used devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in
the Blessed Sacrament. My life vows destined to
be spent in the light irradiating from the tabernacle,
and it is to the Heart of Jesus that I dare go for the solution
of all my problems," - Pope John XXIII

Holy Days of Obligation
There are five precepts of the Church that are binding to all her
members. They are “meant to guarantee to the faithful the very
necessary minimum in the spirit of prayer and moral effort, in
the growth in love of God and neighbor.” Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) #2041
The first precept is: “You shall attend Mass on Sundays and on
holy days of obligation and rest from servile labor.” CCC #2042
In the Diocese of Jefferson City, there are FIVE holy days of
obligation:
· January 1, Mary Mother of God
· August 15, The Assumption of Mary
· November 1, All Saints Day
· December 8, The Immaculate Conception
· December 25, Christmas
All parishioners are expected to observe these days with
the same fidelity as Sunday. However, when January 1, August 15 or November 1 fall on a Saturday or Monday, the precept to attend Mass is abrogated. This means the obligation is
removed for those days.
In 2016, August 15 falls on Monday; therefore the obligation to
attend Mass on that day is removed. We will post a schedule of
Masses for that day in a later bulletin.
