Bike Audit
We have begun our annual bike audit. If you
There are places my family goes without me. Stealth trips to places that I
“wouldn’t like” usually happen weekend
mornings when I want a few hours of
my own anyway. I’m not exactly insulted
by this, just feel a tad left out when they
return home a few hours later, happily
loaded down with invisible ink, oversized
pencils, and playing cards.
“Where’ve you been?’ I ask. “Wunderland,” they say, with a shrug. “It’s just,
like, an arcade. You probably wouldn’t like
it.”
I asked my daughter to take me to there
recently. It wasn’t exactly hard to break
the aforementioned father-daughter alliance.
Wunderland is located at 3451 SE Belmont Street inside the old Avalon Theater. It has two large arcade rooms filled
with over 100 coin-operated nickel games.
Red pleated curtains hang from the walls.
Neon clowns are affixed to the walls
above. Not like it? I absolutely loved it.
Admission was free with a Chinook Book
coupon. Otherwise it’s just $2.25 for kids
and $2.75 for adults. The majority of
the games are a nickel to play, although
some require three, four, or eight nickels.
Change is made at the entrance and given
out in small plastic bags.

One of many games for the young, and young at
heart, at Wunderland in SE Portland.
Siberian Chill Slushees are available for
purchase. No outside food is allowed.
At 11 AM on a weekday the place teemed
with kids clutching tickets earned at the
redemption games. These can be traded
in at the end for prizes. Eyes were glazed
over. Mesmerized by the games’ beeps,
dings, and bells, we headed to the back for
a few games of old-fashioned Skee Ball, an
alley-style game played with wooden balls
that players roll up a ramp. There are other
alley games, too (Bug Bash, Basket Fever,
for instance) but none as good as Skee Ball
in our opinion.
Our top favorite game is the Milk Jug Toss,
where we landed the ball into the center
jug three times in a row. “Can daddy do
that?” I howled as tickets spewed onto the
floor. Many of the games require sliding

are using the bike rooms or outdoor bike racks
to store your bike(s), please make sure to tag it
with with an orange tag by April 14th. Tags are
located in the bike rooms and in the leasing office.
The tags are not permanent and are only being
used to identify bicycles that may have been left
behind by former residents. Please leave the tag
on through Thursday, April 17th.
On April 15th all bicycles without a tag will be
removed. Photos of these bicycles will be displayed in the mailbox area for eight days. After
the eight days unclaimed bicycles will be removed and donated.
Artist Showcase
We would like to showcase artwork from our
resident artists starting in April. We would love
to show off your artwork by hanging it in our
office for a short period of time for the public
to see. We have the wall space – we just need
the art! If you’re interested in being on the
schedule please come to the office or email Melinda at Melinda@TheRamona.com for more
information.
Ramona Weight Loss Challenge
April 30th will be the final weigh-in for anyone
participating in the weight loss challenge. Weekly
weigh-ins are available to help keep you accountable, and Crystal is available for additional
inspiration and tips during your journey! Once
everyone has had a chance to weigh-in, the winners will be announced.

Congrats to our March Early Rent winner Alison Maher, and our March YES Energy Bill
On-Time winners, Nicole Hurley and Peter Jaeger. Pay your rent on or before the first of the

a nickel into a slot. It lands on a platform that
shifts, nudging the accumulated pile of nickels
ever closer to the chute. Highly addictive for the
budding gambler.
As if this weren’t enough Wunderland also has
a discount movie theater. Admission is $2.25 for
kids and $3.00 for adults. “Frozen” is the next
feature film showing. The 15 TriMet bus can
reach Wunderland. There are probably secret
routes there that I don’t know about yet, too.
Annual Easter Egg Hunt
Saturday, April 19
Please join us for our 3rd annual Egg Hunt!
The hunts will be located in the courtyard,
community room, and upper garage. We will
have multiple age groups for the hunt as well
as an array of fun activities and games.
Please remember a basket or bag to put your
eggs and other goodies in throughout the day.
Look out for flyers in the elevators with more
information as we get closer to the date.
Hippity Hop Bunny Hop Through the Pearl

12:00 - 3:00 pm
Also on the 19th, don’t miss the annual Pearl Bunny Hop! The day starts with a store-to-store easter
