La La Land - The Göteborg Opera
La La Land DANCE PERFORMANCE BY ALEXANDER EKMAN AND MEDHI WALERSKI. The Göteborg Ballet Welcome to the right part of your brain, your here-and-now conscience. La la land is inspired by the work of neuroscientist Jill Bolte Taylor and explores what happens when “now” is void of meaning, beginning and end. In Ekman’s and Walerski’s playful La la land we meet a group of individuals on a selfhelp course. Using therapeutic exercises they try to find the path to becoming “better human beings”. Using a combination of dance, spoken dialogue and twisted humour the two choreographers create an accurate and humorous image of mankind’s constant struggle to develop. The music is a collage from Chopin, Puccini, Akron/Family and the pianist Bernard Matracki, who performs his own compositions onstage.
