The Inside Scoop
It was that time again
for our annual Patient
Appreciation Day!
We like to take a day at
the end of the summer
to celebrate our patients
and their beautiful
smiles. This year, we
had a slew of fun family
activities Sunday,
September 16, from
1pm-3pm, at the Scioto
Park North Shelter (off
Riverside Drive). City
Barbeque® catered with
a delicious spread of
food. For dessert, we
had Dairy Queen® dilly
bars and cherry star
kisses.
Margarita
Man supplied us with
non-alcohol frozen
slushies in flavors that
everyone enjoyed, especially because it was
hot!
As in the past, bounce
houses and inflatable
games were set up for
the kids. Our newest
and most exciting
addition was a 35 foot
bungee run, where two
kids (or adults) raced
each other while
strapped into a bungee We are already looking
cord. That was an
forward to next year’s
absolute blast!
party!
We had multiple interactive games with
prizes for the kids, like
a balloon toss, sack
race, limbo and the
ever-popular hula hoop
contest! We also had
tons of raffles for our
adults.
There are always lines
for the awesome face
painter and the balloon
artist. They painted
and made smiles for
kids of all ages.
Dr. Underwood is so
pleased to be able to
spend an afternoon
with his patients and
truly thank them for
choosing our office. We
love our patients!
Check out our Facebook
page for pictures from
the event!

Monthly Contests!
Our fall Best Pumpkin contest is quickly approaching! In October, our favorite dental
offices will be decorating pumpkins for you to judge both in the office and on Facebook
for the chance at winning a free lunch. Last year’s winner was a landslide, so we’re hoping for even more competition this year!
Ellie was our winner of the summer in-office Olympic medal contest. She won a $25
Dicks Sporting Goods gift card for her artistic medal! We have a ‘sugar bug’ maze in
the office right now for a chance to win a gift card. We also still have the Healthy Grins
Always Win contest, so remember to get your cards signed by your dentists. Log on to
our Facebook page for additional contests, fun photos, and our upcoming Sweepstakes!

In the Clinic
What's new in the clinic these days? As most of you may have noticed, Dr. Underwood is looking a little different these days - he is sporting a brand new
Brace Smile! He is now experiencing firsthand the trials and tribulations and
difficulties with brushing and flossing that patients with braces are experiencing.
Dr. Underwood's kids, Annie and Ricky, are not showing him any sympathy. In
fact, from what I heard from Dr. U., they are enjoying knowing their dad is experiencing everything they had to go through. So next time you see him, ask him
how he is doing with his new braces.
You also may have noticed that our new moms are back from maternity leave.
Both Jamie and Nicole are back and doing great. We are very glad to have them
back in the clinic! Also, our records tech, Tara, will be tying the knot next
month with her fiancé Mike. We are all very excited and happy for her. If you
see her, tell her congratulations and good luck!
We are continuing to use the new clinical technology,
IDB, which stands for Indirect Bonding. The purpose of
this new procedure is for Dr. Underwood to see every
angle and tooth structure much more clearly by
placing the brackets on the model teeth, and to be
able to place the brackets in the best place possible.
This will prevent having to reposition the brackets
later on in treatment. It also reduces the time the
patient needs to be in cheek retractors.
Just remember: We are here to help you achieve that
beautiful smile. It's very important that everyone
abides by the foods to avoid rules as best as they can. If a bracket does come
off, it will usually add another month or more to the end of your treatment. If
the food is too crunchy, chewy, sticky, or you are just not sure, don't eat it.
Please use your best judgment!
