By Mike Matthews
Hello everyone. I’m Mike Matthews (region
VP) and as Steve stated I will be writing the
President’s newsletter while he and Jeanne
are in Florida for the winter. Steve, I hope
you enjoy Rennsport III and please do share
your pictures. I hope those of you who went
to the Fall Derby with the Kentucky region
had a great time.
The board of directors are in the process of
setting the calendar for the next year and we
need your input.
What is it you want
to do? Are you into
social get togethers? Into driving
your cars? Are you
into getting together for monthly dinners? What about
driving experiences
(Des)? Autocrossing? Are you into
track events? A
club is what you make it and without your
input we may not be doing the right things.
If you have any suggestions please send me
email (mikel@mchsi.com) or give me a call
(217-419-6110) so we can discuss it.
One of the events the board is considering for
next year is a teen driving school. This school
will take place in the late March or early
April time frame. The purpose of the event
is to teach teenagers how to control their
vehicles in various situations. This is still in
November 2007
the early planning stages and if it does
happen it will be in conjunction with
another group that sponsors this type of
event. We will let you know more as it
develops.
Each year we elect three members to the
board of directors. These positions have
voting rights and are designed to help
run the Lincoln Trail Region. You will
find a list of current nominees in this
month’s newsletter. We are accepting
nominations
for the board
of director
positions
until November 15.
At that time
we will mail
out ballots
to all region
members.
The mailed
ballots must
be received by Nov 30. We will also accept ballots at the December 1st Christmas party. The ballots will be counted
and results disseminated to the membership shortly afterwards. If you have an
interest in one of these positions please
contact Darren Sawyer (rnhockey@
yahoo.com), Dana Sawyer (rnracer60@
yahoo.com) or Mike Matthews (mikel@
mchsi.com).
This is the beginning of November and
many of us are getting ready to put our
Porsches into winter storage. Are you

ready for that? Is your car ready? Or are you
wanting one more drive before you put your car
up for the winter? If so give another club member
a call and go for a drive!
Enjoy your Porsche and go for a drive,
Mike
Grandpa’s Addiction
My grandpa has an affliction,
Well it is more like an addiction.
You will see him when he is coming,
The motor will be humming.
He has had all the colors of the German flag,
And a silver one too.
Some have been used,
And some are brand new.
By now you may have guessed,
He spends a lot of loot.
Because it is a Porsche,
There is no substitute!!

National Notes from Monthly
Conference Call
As plans continue to evolve for the 2008
Porsche Parade in Charlotte, there was a
lengthy discussion on whether the Zone
Challenge adds value to the Parade experience. For those that haven’t attended
a Parade in the past two years, the Zone
Challenge is an event that pits one Zone
against another in a variety of activities with the overall winner being announced at the end
of Parade. Next
year, there was talk
of possibly having

Challenge.
