IMPORTANT NOTICE
From Your Rep
DUE TO A KITCHEN FIRE AT BROWN’S RESTAURANT, OUR PORTERSVILLE BREAKFAST MEETING HAS MOVED TO A NEW LOCATION FOR THE
MEETING ON JANUARY 25TH.
It’s hard to believe we are beginning another year. I think the older I get the faster the years go by. I hope all of you had a
wonderful Christmas season, celebrating
with family and friends. As you watch the
snow fly outside, dream of warmer weather and start making plans for summer adventures be sure to mark your calendars
for our Western PA Rally, July 20 –22.
Plans are well underway for our Rally.
Please let Darryl or I know how you
would be willing to help. Don’t assume,
someone else will do it! I would be great to
see some new faces volunteer to help.
EPPIES DINER

2015 Western PA Retread Membership Renewal
The winners of the Early-Bird Renewal contest were Les &
Carol Miller. Congratulations!
Many of you have already renewed your memberships for
2015. If you haven’t, take a few minutes, now, to fill out the
form included with the newsletter, before it slips your mind.
***Please remember to sign your renewal application***
I want to thank each of you for your continued support of the Western PA Retreads over the past year. Each of you
play an important part in the continued
success of our organization. If you haven’t
renewed yet, don’t wait another minute.
You won’t want to miss out on any news
about future events. You won’t find a
friendlier bunch of people anywhere.
Looking forward to seeing all of you at one
or more of our breakfasts, rides or events
this year.

Annual Winter Banquet as seen through the eyes of Kathy Wilcox
Santa did not visit but it was a very merry
time at the Retread’s Annual Winter Banquet! Our 60 party guests appreciated good
driving weather and relished the opportunity to visit, eat, drink and play games!
The venue for this year’s party was a great
choice! Thanks to some negotiating by Kim
and Arvilla Karns, the Fox Street Church
of God in Franklin (where the Karns attend
and their daughter Beverly is in charge of
the kitchen) agreed to cater our dinner. The
facility was perfect for us with a nice spacious private room on the ground floor, a
paved parking lot and private entrance. When you add the delicious home cooking, it
was a winner! They agreed to the same weekend next year and those in attendance
overwhelmingly approved.
The buffet menu included baked chicken and braised beef (both with homemade
gravy), homemade mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, coleslaw, tossed salad, dinner rolls, and several choices of Jello salad/desserts including Arvilla Karns’s cinnamon Jello. We also enjoyed cherry or pineapple cake for dessert and of course bottomless coffee pots and a big bowl of punch!
Kim always finds fun games to challenge our brains. Right after eating a huge meal
we had to think and solve riddles! So for those of you who missed this great party, I
will challenge you to figure out which Christmas song was about “The apartment of
two psychiatrists” and one which is the story of a “rose-colored uncouth dolf”! By the time we struggled with
this game, we were almost brain dead, so she went easy on us and we played picture bingo!
The Chinese auction was well supplied with a wide variety of prizes. There
was everything you could think of, a t shirt, a variety of bags, a ceramic
heater, clock, spice rack, and many lovely Christmas decorative items.
Members generously brought handmade gifts, including one of John Docter’s famous bird feeders. Joan Tejchman donated homemade jams, jellies
and apple butter, Darlene Phillips and Betty Jones made dish and hand
towels, and Dwayne Jones created several leather items. Others tempted us
with containers of nuts, candy and cookies. Sprinkled in the gift table were
several $25.00 gift cards including one
won by Laura Bloom, a mystery card
which turned out to be a $25.00 Olive
Garden gift card won by Don Bossard,
and Margie Sumner was the recipient of a $25.00 gift certificate to Lutz
Leather in Beaver Falls, PA.
It was a successful day and it seemed like everyone went home with
something! Many thanks to Kim Docter and Emily for all the hard work
coordinating the event and games.
Also, applause to Beverly and her crew who worked hard to prepare a
delicious dinner! There is no one who can cook like church ladies!!!!
*Thank you to Jerry Owens for taking pictures

LOST COAT AT WINTER BANQUET
I am sending out a request to all who attended
the Winter Banquet. There was a coat mix up. At
the end of the party, Chuck Karns went to get his
coat off the rack. There was a coat similar to his,
but not his, left on the rack. Chuck wore it home
because it was the only one left.
Please check the coat you wore home and see if
you accidentally picked up the wrong one.
The coat that was left is a:
Croft & Barrow - Black - Size Medium
The only thing in the pockets were a couple tissues so that didn’t lend any clues.
Chuck would really like to have the coat back
that his daughter bought for him.
If you accidentally wore it home please get in
touch with Chuck. 814-432-5442.
