Silver Beau of Shavella “Marley” 16/6/92 -21/10/06 Marley passed away in his usual place on his best Mates bed - namely Pat Maxell. He was Pats best friend and the hours that they spent walking the parks and rivers was amazing. Marley will be remembered in the Show Ring as being a very vocal Pug and you always knew when I arrived with him. You couldn”t shut him up. I will miss him just as much as Pat, so walk the Rose Gardens my friend and catch up with your brother Ziggi in doggy heaven. Ashburton Kennel Association reserves the right to reallocate breeds if necessary or appoint a reserve judge. The South Island Welsh Corgi League are holding a breed support show for all the Corgis in conjunction with the Ashburton Kennel Association Judges Profiles Michael McCarthy I was born into a greyhound family and while I did not per sue the racing greyhound activity I have spent all my life in Show dogs. I have owned and shown many breeds and made up forty one champions mainly in Pembroke and Cardigan Corgis. I became an all breeds judge in 1976 and since then I have judge in twenty six countries including Australia and New Zealand. I have been honoured with Best in Show appointments in some of Europe’s biggest International Shows. I have judged specialist Breed Shows for Irish native breeds in many countries and I have served on the council of the Irish Kennel Club for a continuous thirty two years. Glenys Alexander Dog breeding and showing became a part of my life at a very young age and I became a partner in my family’s well known ‘Walamara Dobermann Kennels’ at 12 years of age. After marrying into a Terrier family I began my infatuation with Smooth and Wire Fox Terriers and was lucky enough to own and handle one of the biggest winning Terriers ever in Australia. The Wire, American and Australian Ch Aldee’s Poncharelo of Ana-Dare (Imp USA) won 110 best in Groups and 85 in Show awards after arriving in Australia at 4 years of age. Two other imports followed and several Best in Show winners were bred under my own ‘Ivanhoe Kennels’. Judging called me at a young age and I was lucky to be encouraged by some gifted mentors who gave of their knowledge gladly. Always interested in giving back to the dog world I have lectured and been involved in the training of the judges in Australia and several other countries. Judging appointments have taken me to all States of Australia and other countries, including, New Zealand, Australia, USA, Japan, India and Philippines. Jenny Hamilton I have had dogs around me all my life. My parents had a pair of Red Cocker Spaniels and a Smooth Fox-Terrier. My first taste of the Show world began when I was 16 and worked in a large kennels that bred and showed Pembroke and Cardigan Corgis and Min-Schnauzers. I Joined NZKC and first exhibited in 1976. As well as my beloved Pointers I have also had Wire Foxies, Bull Terriers, Dobermanns, Irish Wolfhounds and Boxers. I have had Pointers for 23 ears and have been luck to have had many top winning homebred dogs. I am currently President of the Pointer Club and have been judging since 1986 and have judged throughout NZ, Australian and also Indonesia. Julie Ann Dickinson-Franks (NSW) I have bred and shown English Cocker Spaniels, Gordon Setters, Chinese Crested, Pekingese, Australian Terriers and Australian Kelpies. I Commenced showing as a school student over 40 years ago with English Cocker Spaniels. Believing that one cannot judge dogs properly without some personal involvement in the Groups I have also prepared and shown Curly Coated Retrievers, Irish Setters, Dobermanns and Miniature Poodles as well as Dachshunds, Border Collies, Greyhounds and Scottish Terrier. I have had many Northern Hemisphere appointments including the Chinese Crested Club of Great Britain Open Show in 1996, also at Stourbridge Open Show. This year I judged the Swedish Kelpie & Cattle Dog 30th Anniversary Show and then to England where I officiated on Toy, Gundog and Working Group Specials as well as Border Collies. I have been an Australian All Breeds Judge since 1987 - first licensed for Gundogs in 1962. 62 New Zealand Kennel Club Gazette December 2006/January 2007 Entries Close: 24 January 2007 Otago German Shepherd Dog Club 2 x Championship Shows NZKC Exhibition Centre, Forrester Park, Norwood Street, DUNEDIN Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 February 2007 Judging order: Judging commences: Breed classes: Dogs, Bitches, Best in Show each day 8.30am both days 1 3 5 6 11 (Dogs) 1a 3a 5a 6a 11a (Bitches) Judge(s) Mr Ken Northcote (NSW) Saturday show Mrs Faye Stokes (NSW) Sunday Show Entries to: Entry Fees: Cheques payable: Liz Wilkinson PO Box 20-180 Bishopdale CHRISTCHURCH 8543 $22 ($1 to National fund) Otago German Shepherd Dog Club Trophies for Financial members of our club for Saturday show only Verbal Critiques in the ring Evening meal at Normanby Tavern at conclusion of Saturday show.
