The Johnson County 4-H Horse Committee has
announced that the 2015 dates for Ride Nights
has been set...so, get out those new 2015 Calendars and mark these dates now: February 3, 10,
17, 24 and March 3.
This year’s Ride Nights Coordinators will be hosting some fantastic clinics on those nights, from
6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Posse Arena.
Fee of $1 per horse and negative Coggins is required!
Don’t forget, these hands-on workshops and
riding clinics are designed for both the beginner
and experienced rider.

Exhibitor Scholarships: Thirty livestock and horse show exhibitors will be awarded a four-year, $18,000
college scholarship in 2015. Scholarships are available to graduating seniors, applications are due Monday, Feb. 23, 2015.

Agricultural Mechanics Technical Scholarships: The Show will award five two-year, $8,000 Agricultural
Mechanics Technical Scholarships to outstanding students who qualify through the Houston Livestock
Show and Rodeo Agricultural Mechanics Program. Only high school seniors are eligible to apply.

Hildebrand Scholarship: The Show will award one four-year, $18,000 Scholarship in memory of Mrs. Ruth
Hildebrand to an exhibitor in the Junior Market Lamb Show. Applications must be received by midnight,
Feb. 9, 2015, and supporting documents must be postmarked no later than Feb. 13, 2015.

Congratula ons to the Johnson County 4‐H Dairy Judging Team on a great day at Ft. Worth. This contest also serves as the District 8 & State 4‐H Dairy Judging Contest. Team #1 members were Dani Thompson (6th high individual), LeAnne Pollock (2nd high individual), Travis Tilton and Tucker Tilton (7th high individual). Alter‐
nate, Brigg Hawkins was the 5th place high point individual. Travis Tilton was overall 1st high individual win‐
ning a $500 scholarship! These members will represent Texas at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin this September! (Full results can be found on judgingcard.com. Congrats to the Johnson County 4-H Livestock Judging Team
on a job well done at the Ft. Worth Stock Show Goat Judging
Contest! Kane Friermood (pictured) was 6th place high point
individual. The team of Justin Crumpton, Ethan Peacock, Mia
Meehan and Jhett Davis placed 10th overall and the team of
Kane Friermood, Todd Hardin, Hayden Come and Trey Hardin placed 13th overall!

The results from the Ft. Worth Stock Show are beginning to come in and Johnson County
4Her’s have started this show season off right!
In the Dairy Cattle Show, Jacob Bingham placed 4th, 5th and 10th with his three Holsteins. In
the Beef heifer show, results were as follows: Madison Metzler—3rd Maintainer, Madison
Korb—6th Maintainer, Makayla Luckie—3rd Polled Hereford, Jett Garren—8th Angus and
Brecken Shipman—2nd Charolais. Other participants were Seth Stout, Stockton Frisina, and
Garrett Korb.
Attention all 2015 graduating seniors! The deadline to apply for the State Fair of Texas scholarship is March
1, 2015. The State Fair of Texas awards a $5000 scholarship to selected applicants who have participated in
specific Youth Livestock competitive events held at Fair Park in Dallas. This Scholarship is paid over four
years, $625 a semester.
Scholarships are given to applicants who are enrolling in an agricultural-related curriculum or agriculturalbenefiting natural science curriculum at a college or university in Texas.
