Grand and reserve champions are chosen by judges
Students receive awards at livestock show
The 5th Annual Pewitt FFA Invitational
Livestock Show selected its champions Saturday, February 27.
A total of 18 members of the Pewitt FFA and
Pewitt Jr. FFA exhibited their market animals along with six members who showed
their breeding heifers.
The day started with the market swine
classes. Brooke Traylor was awarded the Grand
Champion with her 220-pound pig while Alli
Gentry was confirmed to be the Reserve Champion market swine winner. Others that proudly
showed their pigs were Rylee Hutchings,
Courtney Kiefer, Sydney Gentry, Hannah
Wright, Calli Osmon, Seth Ashley, Aiden
Henniger, Colby Crocker, and Jace Clubb. The
Jr. Showmanship honor for the swine division
was given to Calli Osmon and the Sr. Show-
manship award went to Courtney Kiefer.
The goats were next to exhibit at the show.
Those involved in this show were Natalie Cobb,
Ashtyn Boyd, Jake Rosewell, Will Swafford,
Pamela Clubb, and Bradley Wallace.
The Grand Champion was shown by Will
Swafford and the Reserve award went to
Pamela Clubb. Bradley Wallace took home the
buckle for Jr. Goat Showmanship, while
Pamela Clubb was the winner in the Sr. Showmanship division.
There was only one calf entered in the steer
division. Colby Frost won the Grand Champion buckle with his 1,090-pound steer.
The breeding heifers were the last to be
exhibited in this year’s show. The Grand Champion heifer this year was shown by Hannah
Wright who exhibited her Polled Hereford
heifer, and the Reserve Champion went to
Allyson Boyd and her Santa Gertrudis heifer.
Rachel Clayton also showed her Beefmaster
heifer, Chelsy Edwards showed her Grey Brahman heifer, Spencer Thacker exhibited his
Red Brahman heifer, Logan Donham showed
his Red Brahman heifer, and Shelby Martin
exhibited her Beefmaster heifer.
The Beef Sr. Showmanship winner for this
year was Rachel Clayton and the Jr. Showmanship was won by Alyson Boyd.
Congratulations should also go to all who
volunteered their time and energy to help
these fine students of the Pewitt ClSD and the
Pewitt FFA, and Pewitt Jr. FFA to achieve
their goals for this year and to ensure that the
second annual Pewitt FFA Invitational Livestock Show was a great success.
