The alternative to demolition and nighttime construction is a large, deep bore tunnel, which
would run under the neighborhood, saving property, and construction noise. This is a much more
expensive alternative, and will only be considered if we, the residents and business owners of the
City, demand it. That is while it is important to attend this meeting, and bring neighbors as well.
Anaheim is scheduled as the Þrst city to begin construction, so there is no time to lose in getting our
public coments in to the High Speed Rail Authority, which is now Chaired by our own Mayor Curt
Pringle.
The Anaheim Historical Society’s Cynthia Ward had been looking at this project for its impact to
historic structures, and has since alerted us that the project, if it remains “At Grade”, will result in
taking, by eminent domain, of multiple properties, including homes and businesses along the rail line
that services Metrolink. The At Grade alternative will be constructed at night, to avoid conßicting
with the Metrolink line, resulting in night noise for those who live close to the Metrolink line.
