Melissa recently purchased Seriously Good Coffee and with some remodeling, has converted the business into a trendy women’s clothing and accessory boutique which is successfully drawing women of all ages. Altogether Lovely specializes in trendy, up to date women’s clothing and accessories at affordable prices. Her goal is to keep inventory moving with new items in her store all the time. She goes to market 3 to 4 times a year to stay up to date on the latest fashion and colors. Opening a clothing boutique is a dream that Melissa has had for awhile. She has always loved fashion and felt that a clothing boutique would be a good fit for Cozad. She was tired of having to find the time travel to Kearney when she needed to purchase a nice outfit for a special event with little notice. With the tremendous help and advice from Robyn Geiser at Cozad Business Development, promotion from the Cozad Chamber of Commerce, and lots of encouragement and support from the community of Cozad, Melissa was able to achieve her dream. Within the first four days of opening, Melissa had sold 1/2 of her inventory and her sales have superseded her expectations. She also has a very successful online business for the boutique through Facebook and is in the process of setting up a website. Gift certificates are also available. Melissa is hoping that her success with Altogether Lovely will inspire other businesses to come to Cozad. As a Christian woman, Melissa has chosen to operate her business by living out and instilling within other women the verse Psalm 139:14. “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Melissa believes that all women are uniquely beautiful and she has a longing for each woman she helps to feel beautiful and discover the beauty within herself. She does personal appointments for groups of women or individuals and recently had a group of older ladies come in for just such an appointment. They had such fun trying on clothes that they normally would not have chosen for themselves, within the privacy of their group, and many were amazed how well the new trendy styles and colors looked on them. She has also enjoyed being a fashion consultant for several groups of teens and women of all ages. When asked about her future plans for Altogether Lovely, Melissa expressed her desire to encourage women to host parties at the boutique. This would be a time for women to relax and enjoy the evening with friends and family. The women would be served hors d'oeuvres while trying on clothes; with the host receiving perks. It would be on the same line as Pampered Chef parties. 6 Melissa also owns the lot to the north of the boutique and would like to eventually add children’s clothing. Altogether Lovely also carries Sunshine coffee, which is freshly roasted by Gayla Malcom using the equipment and recipes she purchased from Country Grounds. Melissa graduated from Eustis High School and holds a degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice. In 2011, Melissa earned her Real Estate license and enjoys selling real estate at CBS Real Estate in Cozad. She especially enjoys taking new home buyers through the process of purchasing their first home. Melissa shared during her interview, “How many people have 2 jobs that they absolutely love!” Melissa will continue to work at CBS Realty on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Altogether Lovely Boutique will be open on Wednesday -10am-5pm, Friday-10am-6pm and Saturday-9am-3pm. With all that she has taking place in her life, Melissa’s greatest pleasure is still her time with her family; husband, BJ and their three children, Brock, Braelyn and Brantley.
