It takes two to tango but in PERNEC, it takes the full commitment
of more than 1,300 staff to move our business forward. While the
management can propose new business models to enhance our revenue streams, it is the staff who will actually determine the success
of any new projects that we undertake.
In this issue of NADA PERNEC, we have compiled a series of
events that are primarily aimed at positioning PERNEC as a formidable ICT company within the business landscape of Malaysia.
This platform is testimony to our continuous efforts to complement the Government’s drive to increase the level of ICT literacy
among rural Malaysians.
PERNEC PayPoint, for instance, is aggressively promoting the
Kampung WiFi concept since receiving its Network Service Provider licence from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission early this year. Thankfully, this effort has shown
positive inital results and received encouraging response from our
stakeholders
The Kampung WiFi programme is integral to the digitalisation
efforts in rural areas that is being encouraged by the Government,
in particular the Ministry of Information, Communications, Culture and Arts.
With the more than 35,000 payphone sites as possible hot spot
locations for WiFi services, we are in the driver’s seat of this exercise and take full responsibility to ensure that the enhanced communications services will be shared by all and not only limited to
those living in the urban areas. Happy reading!

also use these portals to market their

business portals have recorded some degree of success.
Abdul Karim added it was not ideal to
promote these portals individually hence
the decision by PERNEC to bundle them
with connectivity through the HalalSquare portal.
“Essentially, we are looking at developing a complete e-commerce ecosystem
and creating a powerful tool for SMEs to
enhance and sustain their growth. We may
also approach relevant banks and government bodies to assist us in realising these
goals,” Abdul Karim said.
He added, “This initiative should ideally be a collaboration between us and the
government as it cannot be done individually. It also needs to be localised to suit the
conditions of any particular area. During
the exhibition, the portals received tremendous response particularly from SMEs in
the food industry.
They expressed interest at having their
products marketed on the portals and PERNEC officials assured them their dreams
of marketing their products to a global
market was possible through these two ecommerce sites.

was the highlight of the evening for them.
His rendering of his melancholic sentimental songs touched a lot of
lonely hearts and almost everyone took the opportunity to sing along to
his hits such as Lelaki Ini, Keabadian Cinta and Bidadari.
At the end of his show, PERNEC staff did not miss the chance to

Malaysia. Everyone had good, clean fun that night and took the opportunity to let their hair down.
We will be looking forward to an even grander event when the 2011
