REFLECTIONS FOR APRIL
Have You Done Your Spring Cleaning Yet?
When I was growing up, many moons ago, it was standard ritual each spring to do a
thorough cleaning of our house. That meant washing everything from walls and
woodwork, windows and shades, to seldom used dishes to anything that sat still long
enough to get a cleaning rag on it. Some reduction in “stuff” also took place as items
were determined ‘not needed’ any more and given away. In these modern days of
working women and so little time for such things, this ritual has changed for many.
Some hire it done; some try to accomplish it through smaller, shorter periods of cleaning that are scheduled monthly or perhaps weekly – or maybe not at all!
In a way, Lent serves that purpose in our spiritual lives. That 40 days of penitence and
fasting helps us to focus on “taking out the trash” that has accumulated in our lives.
Holy Spirit is our expert in helping with that! He’s on duty 24-7. Fasting is a physical
way to cleanse our bodies also. It has many health benefits. Spiritual fasting, from
hurtful attitudes, bad habits, impure thoughts, self-centered plans and activities, and
even from words that are hurtful, can all bring health to us – body, soul and spirit! The
official season of Lent is past, but “spring-cleaning” can be done any time of the year.
Just ask Holy Spirit where to start and invite His participation. I think we will be glad we
did! Amen!

BE MISSION NEWS
The Missions Committee and the Estonia Team members would like to send a big
thank you to all those who helped to make the chili dinner a big success. To all who
worked and donated chili, cornbread, and desserts, and helped serve and clean
up, your time was much appreciated.
The Estonia team will leave on June 23rd and return on July 5th, this year. They
all still need funding for the $1500. that they need to raise for their airfare. If you feel
called to donate, please be sure that you put their name on the memo portion of the
check, so that they will get credit for the donation. The team members who are
going to Estonia are: Amy and Adam Randall, Alyssa Pollock, Carla Cortes,
and Michael Arnold. They need to have this money in by April 1st. Please pray
about this.
The team is starting to plan what they will do there. The plan is to have the team tour
the alcoholic rehab center in Kunda to preach and pray with the people there. They
will also visit the orphanage where Pastor Andrei works and pray with the children.
They will have an evangelism event in the city for families for 3 days and preach,
pray, and give their testimonies. There will be games and music for the young
people. Several other things are in the planning stages. Please keep the team
members as well as Pastor Andrei and his family in your prayers. Also pray for the
people that God will have our team meet in Estonia.
The Navajo Mission trip is also coming up. Ellen Reed will be going from our
church: they will leave on April 26th and return on May 3rd. They will visit in homes
with small groups of Navajo Christians for times of Bible reading, praise, fellowship,
and prayer... and times of worship with others. They travel extensively In the Navajo
reservation to reach the people. Ellen is giving out prayer cloths for our people to
pray over and take to the pastor's wife on the reservation. She and others will give
these out to their people as they pray for their healing of many kinds. These will all be
prayed over again on April 25th in our 9am church service by Pastor Tom. Please
return your prayer cloth to Ellen before the service. Please keep Ellen and the team
as well as the Navajos in prayer.
Pastor Stifan Sanganhalli, from India, will be here to preach at the Wednesday
evening service on May 4th, at 6:30. Please plan to attend if possible. Our church
has sent funding for two churches to be built in India under his supervision.
