KAY HOUSE DURYARD Kay House Duryard is the University’s new state-of-the-art music facility located at Duryard, on the outskirts of the Streatham Campus. Housing 5 big spaces for between 80 and 200 people each, storage for students’ instruments, a new full size Concert Grand Piano and a bigger, swipe card access Band Practice Room. The University has invested £2.2 million in this rebuilding programme and it has had a big impact on Music activities. There is also coffee room and a sound studio for recording live events in the upstairs spaces. EX4 4PD Frank Oliver Recital Hall • • • • • Can be used for rehearsals and live performances. Contains two grand pianos as standard, plus a Petrof Grand, which may be booked at a further cost. Configurable staging available - possible heights of 295mm, 540mm & 785mm, total possible area 20sqm. The peak occupancy is 220 persons. Dimensions: 9.5m x 18.5m, 176m2, ceiling height 3.91m. Provides an alternative, more intimate space for piano/open-mic performances to the sides of the room. Possibility of the addition of a stage area for small groups with large audiences. Located between the Frank Oliver Recital Hall and the Cabaret Space, with windows looking into each room. Please note: as of April 2012 this facility is not yet fully functional. The Coffee Bar • • • A social breakout space for the building occupants. Contains vending machines, coffee urn and sink. Dimensions: 4.9m x 7.25m, 36m2, ceiling height 2.3m. Please contact the Music Office for information.) 2 disabled parking spaces located directly behind the building offering ramp access into the Gallery Space on the ground floor. By Train: Exeter has excellent links by train. The main station is Exeter St David’s, which is approximately a 15 minute walk from Kay House Duryard. By Bus: The most convenient bus to Kay House Duryard is Stagecoach’s route H, which will take passengers to the bus stop at the junction of Lower Argyll Road and New North Road.
