Global Maintenance USG
We welcome you to the 2012 GMUSG-SACOME Mining and Resources Conference and Trade
Expo. This is our 8th Upper Spencer Gulf Conference and this year we are proud to bring
this important event to you in partnership with the South Australian Chamber of Mines
and Energy (SACOME). The program has been extended over 2 days this year thanks to
overwhelming support from our Conference Sponsors. 36 trade booths are sold-out and we have a packed
agenda in the conference auditorium.
Global Maintenance USG is fast emerging as South Australia’s Resource Sector Supply-Chain Cluster. We are
114 members strong and growing. Our mission is to establish the Upper Spencer Gulf as a region of excellence
for maintenance services to the resource sector and maximise South Australian business participation in
resource projects and ongoing maintenance and supply markets.
We will continue to promote member capabilities, create opportunities for suppliers and customers to
interact, and opportunities for members to improve their business and collaborate with others. We welcome
new members, so get connected and join. Membership Application forms are included in your delegate bag.
Alternatively, apply online at www.gmusg.com or contact Mark Malcolm, Manager, at

South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy
The South Australian Chamber of Mines & Energy (SACOME) is the peak body representing
all companies - mining companies and suppliers - that have an active interest in the South
Australian resources sector. SACOME currently has over 340 members from the mining,
exploration and service provider sectors.
SACOME exists to support its members in developing their business, providing advice and advocating on the
industry’s behalf. Our input to government on policy and planning is supported by committees focused on
Exploration, Skills and Education, and Occupational Health and Safety. SACOME hosts an extensive events
program including breakfasts, lunches, seminars and conferences. We regularly update members on industry
issues via our SA Mines and Energy Journal, fortnightly e-newsletters and our Service Providers Directory.
SACOME membership and events provide an excellent return on investment for companies looking to raise
their profile and generate new business in the resources sector. Please visit www.sacome.org.au or contact
Alison Snel, Manager, Member Relations on 08 8202 9999 or asnel@sacome.org.au to discuss further.

Whyalla: A proud city of contrasts
From the Outback to the sea, from green parks and gardens to massive industrial operations, from
new housing estates to well established historic neighbourhoods, and from the traditional corner
store to multi-million-dollar shopping centres, Whyalla is indeed a city of remarkable contrasts.
On the western shore of upper Spencer Gulf, around 394kms by road from Adelaide, 40 minutes by
air and averaging 300 days of sunshine every year, Whyalla is clearly a city of the past, present and
importantly the future. It contributes significantly to SA’s economy and has been a major regional player for decades.
Whyalla is often referred to as the “Education City” with campuses of the University of SA and TAFE SA, public and
private primary and secondary schools, and a special school for students with intellectual disabilities. It is a resilient
community of around 70 different nationalities with quality sporting grounds and open spaces.
The Corporation of the City of Whyalla, generally referred to as Whyalla City Council or even just Whyalla Council was
established in 1970 when it replaced the Whyalla Town Commission. It is a unique local government organisation
operating an airport, new state-of-the-art public library, child care centre, cemetery and crematorium, visitor
information centre, maritime museum, lighthouse, landfill and recycling site, marina and boat ramps, owns a leisure
centre with indoor heated swimming pool, and is a leader in water saving and harvesting initiatives.
Whyalla! We have the people, the determination and the vision for continued success.
Whyalla is open for business
Perhaps your business, so consider the opportunities!
A 6-STAR LOCATION
Home of SA’s largest developing industrial estate.
Ideal location for investing in business, commerce and industry.
Growing activity by support services preparing for increased mining.
Regional shopping hub with plenty of national brand names.
Expanding residential developments to cater for the future.
Top education city, top lifestyle, top recreation, top fishing.
