Lutheran Congregations in
Mission for Christ
While I was visiting my father recently, we spent time researching our paternal ancestor who was a Civil War soldier.
We discovered where he served and what company he was
with. I also spent time researching my husband’s paternal
side of the family as his heritage was unknown to him. I
traced them back through the 1860 census and found his
5xgreat-grandfather, born in 1792. All this research was
exciting and fun and the hours flew by!
The Bible understands the importance of knowing who we
are, which is why the gospel writer Matthew gives the history of Jesus’ ancestry. But, then the importance of our family isn’t just where we come from but whose we are. We became part of God’s family when he adopted us in our baptism, and we become part of a church family when we are
baptized as well.
This June Prince of Peace will be having a “family reunion”.
It will be a great opportunity to reminisce and catch up with
our Christian brothers and sisters!
I am soaking in this
wonderful, historical congregation, and can’t wait to meet its
extended family.
Growing in Christ with you!

Council President’s Notes
Grace to you, and Peace, from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
It is hard to believe that we are halfway through 2011, isn’t it? We are continuing to grow and
prosper as a church family. We have weathered our storms and are looking to the future with a
sense of anticipation and excitement. We have much to be thankful for: we have not been
driven from our homes and businesses by fires, floods or tornadoes. Although we desperately
need more rain, we are managing to get by. We are altering original plans and moving ahead in
the best ways we can. We continue to support each other in times of sickness, joy, and sorrow.
We are carrying on the rich tradition and heritage of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church at
Wuthrich Hill.
On June 12th we will celebrate the 115th anniversary of there being a Lutheran Church at
Wuthrich Hill. We will celebrate with friends, families, current and former members and visitors
the blessings that God has bestowed upon this congregation. We will remember our past, celebrate our present, and plan our future together.
The day will begin with worship at 10:00 a.m., rather than our usual 9:00 a.m. time. Everyone is
invited to dress in picnic attire, although swimsuits are not permitted in the church.
Following the worship service we will have Sunday School classes for all ages as the meal
preparations are finalized. We plan to begin the meal at noon.
Activities will include a water slide for all ages, horseshoes, washers, dominoes and visitation. A
group of musicians/singers will provide Gospel music for an old-fashioned sing-along.
Please mark your calendars and plan to attend this special event and invite your family, friends
and neighbors to join us. We have a sign-up sheet in the Parish Hall so that we can calculate
the amount of food to prepare. You also have the opportunity to sign up to bring side dishes or
desserts. Wayne Limmer is preparing the BBQ brisket.
Peace Be With You,
Steven Patschke, Sr., Council President
Reminder—-Communion Instruction Classes—-Don’t Forget
Pastor Kerri will be having classes about communion for all youth and their parents during the
Sunday School hours in June. She is particularly urging all 8th through 3rd graders to attend.
Everyone else is also welcome to come and listen. The instructions will include the history of
Holy Communion, what constitutes a sacrament, and how baptism and communion are related.
These classes are the first step in our youth’s journey toward confirmation.

L.A.F. (Lutheran Adult Fellowship)
In June, L.A.F. will be helping sponsor the 115th Anniversary Picnic and activities. Besides the waterslide and other games planned, we are planning to have a “Bake Walk”. Everyone is invited to bring a
favorite baked item (ie—cake, cookies, pie, etc.) for this activity. The funds raised will be used to help
defray the fees for those children who will be attending church camp during the Summer of 2012.
Hopefully, this will just be a start to some fundraising activities to aid in this effort.
Coming up in July , L.A.F. will be providing hamburgers for the semi-annual meeting on July 24th.
And, don’t forget, the L.A.F. Fundraiser—Auction and Social—coming up on August 14th. Let’s start getting those auction items ready and make this the best auction yet.
Check out the newly reorganized Information Center.
There you will find posters, signup sheets, and photos for various events. Also available are
the copies of other churches
monthly newsletters as well as
other publications for your reading pleasure. Don’t forget to
save and put your Sirloin Stockade receipts in the green box for
redemption .
If you have something to share, feel
free to add it to the board.

Tabea Circle News
The General Meeting will be held on June 12th before church at 8:30 a.m. in the Parish
Hall.
We would like to thank everyone that helped in some way with the booth at the Taylor Zest Fest
—all those who delivered the baked goods and plants, those that stayed and manned the booth
throughout the day, those who delivered the tents and tables and helped set up in the morning
and tear down in the afternoon—YOU are the ones who helped make our booth the success it
was. The funds received will be distributed among our General Fund (used for activities and
charities), the Bereavement Fund, and the Tabea Scholarship Fund.
All women of the congregation, along with spouses and/or friends
are invited to participate in any or all of the Circle activities.
Please join us for the Mary Circle (Bible Study) on Tuesday night, June 14th, at 7:00 p.m. in
the Conference Room.
The Dorcas Circle (Crafts) will meet Tuesday, June 21st, at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference
Room If you enjoy crafts of any type, please join us. We are open to any new suggestions.
The Martha Circle (Visitation Committee) will meet Tuesday, June 28th, to visit our shut-ins.
The ladies in the rest homes thoroughly enjoy the monthly visits. If you are interested in helping with the visitations, please contact Barbara Neill.
First Sunday Fellowship
Hosts/hostesses for June 5th will be Paulette Patschke and Charlotte Vrana.
The 2011 Sign-up sheet is located on the kitchen bulletin board in the Parish Hall. If you
would like to host a month, there are still openings for August, September, October and
November. Your help is always appreciated.

Children’s Sunday School
Sunday School Classes continue each Sunday after the worship service. At this time, the One-Room Schoolhouse material is being utilized.
All children are welcomed to attend the classes.
If you would like to assist as a teacher, please contact Gem Naivar as soon as possible.
I know God loves me because
He speaks to me in His Word.
Let’s think of some ways we can speak to or communicate with each other. We can call someone on the
phone. We can send a letter. We can make a video. How about a text message? Or walkie-talkies?
Wow! There a lot of ways to speak to someone. But how does God speak to us? Romans 15:4 says
that God speaks to us through His Word. We call God’s Word the Bible. God uses the words written in
the Bible to teach us, to tell us things He wants us to know. So when you ask, “Do you love me, Lord?”
His answer is found in Jeremiah 31:3, “I have loved you with an everlasting love.”
“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through...the Scriptures we might have hope.”
Romans 15:4
The Story of Lois and Eunice
Bible women
From 100 Bible Heroes
Lois and Eunice Shared Their Faith with their Family
Timothy’s grandmother Lois had a true faith. She shared that faith with her family. Later Timothy’s
mother, Eunice, shared it with her family. Then, when Timothy grew to be a young man, he carried that
same true faith with him. True faith is a real faith. It doesn’t act one way in front of people and differently
at home. The true faith of Lois and Eunice changed the life of Timothy. He became a friend of Paul the
apostle and preached to many people!
“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”
Adult Sunday School
Adult Sunday School classes have resumed and are being led by Steve Patschke, Sr. The
study is based on "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren.
