Welcome Back
Welcome back everyone to what promises to be another great term of
teaching and learning. I trust everyone had a great holiday and managed
to stay warm through this icy blast that we are currently experiencing.
A big welcome to Correen and John Ahern and daughters Evie and
Gracie who have joined us this term. We trust that you will enjoy your time
at WASPS.
Staffing Term 3
A big welcome to Mrs.Katreen McCoy who is replacing Miss Vastbinder
for the next 12 months. Miss V left for the UK yesterday and we wish her
safe travels. Miss Kalbitzer is on Long Service Leave for the first two
weeks of term and Mr. Teys will be taking her grade whilst she is on
leave. Mrs Baxter is also on Long Service Leave for the first three weeks
of term and has been replaced by Mrs. Shanahan. Welcome Katreen,
Kayri and Luke.
Welcome Helen
A big welcome to Helen Thomas, who is joining us for the first four weeks
of Term 3. Helen is currently enrolled in the Bastow Institutes Aspirant
Leaders Program, and as part of her studies will spend the month at
WASPS gaining experience in all aspects of leading a school community.
We welcome Helen and trust she has a great experience at WASPS.
Staff Carpark
Can I ask all parents and children to not only not use the staff carpark as
a pick up and drop off point, but to not walk through the carpark before or
after school. On Tuesday we nearly had a serious accident with a number
of students walking through the carpark escorted by adults who then tried
to cross Tyner Road without using the school crossing. Please ensure
that when picking up and dropping off children that you always use the
front gate at school.
Aussie of the Month
Tomorrow is an Aussie Assembly beginning at 3.00p.m. in the Multipurpose Room. We look forward to seeing everyone at assembly as we
celebrate our Aussie, Sports Star and Performing Artist of the Month.
School Production
Excitement is building as our production, “Back to the Music” will be
performed at the Kel Watson Theatre, Forest Hill Secondary College on
Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th July. The staff and children have
been working hard rehearsing for our school production with the main
cast and bands rehearsing during the holidays. Yesterday we had our first
run through and it was great to see how well the production is coming
together. It promises to be a great experience for all children and a night
not to be missed. Tickets are selling fast and can be purchased online at:
www.trybooking.com/LRJK
T-Ball Finals
Last Tuesday we hosted the T-ball Finals for the Wantirna District Sports
Association. Our boys team qualified for the final and had a great win over
Bayswater South P.S. Well done to all the boys and Miss K on an
outstanding achievement. We are all very proud of you.

This week at The Hive we
On Monday we all took a vote on what we
wanted to do in the afternoon. Some of us
decided to watch a movie while others got
crafty. Bella, Abby, Ollie and Evana played
a game of celebrity heads!
On Tuesday we all got together to decide
on the Hives activity for the afternoon.
Elise, Emma and Charlie decided to go into
the art room and paint while others played
board games or played on the electronics.
On Wednesday we put on our jackets and
went outside to play on the little kids
playground. Some of us decided to stay in
and get creative and help Alisha with our
Hive height chart!
Coming up next week:
On Monday we’re putting our chef’s
hats on and baking scrumptious,
crunchy chocolate crackles! We’ll
work together to measure all the
ingredients out and make the crispiest
crackles ever!
On Tuesday its kids choice day! We’ll
take a vote and see who wants to get
outside for some group games or free
play, do some cooking or get into the
art room to create something special
On Wednesday we’re checking the
weather and heading outside! We’ll
enjoy some free play on the hard
courts; big kids play ground and the
oval.
On Thursday we’re up in the clouds
creating cloud dough! We’ll then use
our dough to sculpt and construct
different objects or creations!
On Friday we’ll head down to the
multipurpose room and have a vote
on some of our favourite games to
play together. We might play fruit
salad, octopus or poison ball!
