Years 1987-2012 Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies (University of Delhi) Our Philosophy Those who dare to envision ahead of their times are the ones who create a future bigger than their dreams CBS over the years... 1995 – Dr. R.M. Singh appointed Principal – College library fully computerized 1997 – College rechristened as Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies – Bachelor of Science (Honours) Computer Science course introduced 1999 – Bachelor of Financial and Investment Analysis course introduced - first under graduate finance course to be taught in the University. 2006 – Dhwani, Kartavya and Verve societies formed. 2008 – Dr. Poonam Verma appointed Principal 2009 – SIFE & SYNERGY societies formed 2010 – Bachelor of Business Studies & Bachelor of Financial and Investment Analysis courses completely restructured 1987 – August 3 – College of Business Studies (CBS) starts functioning as a University of Delhi college, 100% funded by Delhi Administration Dr. S. S. Gulshan is appointed as the Principal Course offered Bachelor of Business Studies. Number of faculty: 3 , number of students: 50 and number of administrative staff : 7 1990 – Placement Cell conducts the first ever on-campus placements 1991 – Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) course is introduced College magazine – 'FLAMBEAU' launched – BBS becomes the first under graduate course in the University of Delhi to be taught in a semester mode. – NCCMP course introduced in association with National Stock Exchange 2011 – Bachelor of Science (Honours) Computer Science course restructured – MoU signed with the University of Dallas, USA 2012 – Implementation of IT services automating academic administration and delivery, communication system and alumni network. This takes the college from SSCBS status to SSCBS 2.0 status Courses Students Faculty Members Administrative Staff THEN (1987) 1 50 3 7 NOW (2012) 4 900 30 40 Soaring to New Heights SIFE SSCBS won the 3rd prize and People's Choice Award at the 5th Dell Social Innovation Competition 2011, Austin, Texas, USA. Iyad Sheikh and Priyanka Bawa represented the team. SIFE SSCBS won the regional competition and was declared the winner at the SIFE National Competition, Mumbai in 2011. It then represented India at the SIFE World Cup at Kuala Lumpur where it was a semi finalists. 1996-97 CBS won the 3rd position at Inter Ad Asia/Pacific (International Student Advertising Competition) organized by Bozell Worldwide 2002 CBS won the 2nd position at EDUCATION-business simulation challenge, organized by British Council New Delhi, in association with Middlesex University, U.K. Pulkit Bakshi (BBS) won the 'Best Manager' award at IIPM's all India festival (Dec.'11) Dr. Poonam Verma, Principal SSCBS, was felicitated in August 2011 by Bharat Nirman at the 23rd Super Achiever Awards Ceremony, for her contribution to the field of education. India International Friendship Society has chosen to honour her with the Rashtriya Gaurav Award with a Certificate of Excellence to be received in the month of February 2012. 2009 Harneet Singh (BBS) won 'TYCOON' - a 3 month long All-India competition organised by Career Launcher. Aparajita Bharti, BBS 2010 is one of the first four Indians to be selected for Tony Blair Faith Foundation Scholar, UK. Ms. Anuja Mathur, Associate Professor, won the Best Teacher Award instituted by the Govt. of N.C.T. Delhi, Directorate of Higher Education, for all Delhi Govt. funded colleges. 2010 SSCBS launched University of Delhi ’s 1st Incubation Centre in association with National Entrepreneur Network (NEN). The centre helps budding entrepreneurs with business basics, networking activities and provides them with marketing assistance. Pragya Gupta (BFIA) won the 2nd prize at National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan’s B-Plan competition (2011). She was also selected as the International Climate Champion by the British Council, London in 2011 Dr. Jyoti Sikka, Asstt. Professor, won the Faculty Advisor of the Year India award and was invited to the SIFE World Cup, held at Los Angeles, USA in October 2010. ts DEBUT even The Summit of Olympus organised by Synergy (Dec.'09) in association with University of Delhi. It was a 3 day training program for selected students. University of Delhi Inter-college Freshers Debate (Sept.'10) Ayush Gupta, Divya Chadha & Mansi Anand (BBS) won the Dr. Saroj Gupta memorial trophy at LSR’s paper presentation competition (2011) Delhi University Model United Nations DUMUN (Oct.'10) Aashayein – a fun festival for underprivileged children (April'11) organised by Kartavya TedX University of Delhi conference organised by Yuva (April, 11) Renaissance won the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, Milton Friedman National Debate and crossed a record of over 22 awards in a year.
