In
1964 Burt Bacharach
wrote the lyrics to "A House is
not a Home." The first verse
says "A chair is still a
chair even when
there's no one sitting
there, but a chair is not
a house, and a house is
not a home, when
there's no one there to
hold you tight, and no
one there you can kiss
good night."
Merriam-Webster dictionary
defines "home" as a family living
together in one place. You are
our family, and you make
Sunnington your home.
The Sunnington communities are
designed to enhance your
lifestyle and promote individual
well-being. We accomplish this
by providing a home-like
atmosphere, a social
environment, and personal care
and support services as they are
needed.
When you moved to Sunnington
you didn't get "just an apartment." In the assisted living
building you have a cafe, a
formal living room and dining
room(s), an ice cream
parlor, an activities
room, a library, even
a beauty shop! These
shared amenities are
extensions of your
apartment allowing
you to socialize with
others while enjoying
special activities, or sitting
quietly by the fire reading a
book. Senior Care is a little
different because our needs are
different; these residents do,
however, have shared dining
rooms and living areas as well as
a beautiful enclosed courtyard.
Your happiness and satisfaction
are very important to us and we
strive to achieve this each and
every day. Our "house" is a
home, because of you! Thank
you for letting us be a part of
your story.

Spring is finally around the corner! I
don't know about you but I am ready
to get outside and enjoy some warmer weather. Now is a good time to
prepare for the increased activity
that better weather will bring us. Try
increasing walking in the building. A
good time to do this is after each
meal. Add some distance to your
walks before heading back to your
room. This will help digestion, bone
mass, strength, cardiac output and
increase your energy level. Exercising with others is a great way to
keep motivated. There is an exercise
class every morning at 9:00 and 9:30
that has a head to toe workout that is
engaging and a lot of fun. If you
took the winter off, start coming to
the exercise class and increase your
walking. This will put a spring in
your step, improve your health and
prepare you for the warmer weather.
FOR GOOD HEALTH
Get your
exercise on!
Starting Monday, March 3rd
Exercise is now available
Monday — Friday at
TWO times
9:00 — 9:30 or
9:30 — 10:00
Come for one, or both!
Located in the
Wellness Center
on the first floor!
If you think maintaining good
health is about eating, exercise,
and medicine, think again.
Friendships help older people
develop resilience and give
you the ability to bounce back
after diversity. Loneliness has
a dramatic consequence on
health; it can disrupt sleep,
lower immunity, and increase
depression. You should take
part in activities, dine with
friends, and share your good
times. Be well on purpose!

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Sunnington Assisted Living and Senior Care are involved in the
Murfreesboro and Rutherford County communities in a variety of ways.
Once or twice a year students from different degree programs at
MTSU participate in an internship program where they gain hands-on
experience working with the elderly.
Spring and Fall semesters
students from Rutherford County
Schools take part in a work program
where they have opportunity to gain
experience in a specific trade.
Food and clothing have been donated to the local women’s shelter.
This past year we donated a pool
table to the local Boys an Girls Club.
Throughout the year we are
involved in a variety of events, like
the “Gatsby Party,” benefitting the
Mid-South Chapter of the
Alzheimer’s Association.
These are just a few of the many
ways Sunnington stays involved in

Bottled Water Supply
For many years Sunnington has provided
bottled water as a courtesy to our residents,
primarily for the purpose of keeping you hydrated on hot
summer days. In recent months water consumption seems
to have increased dramatically, so we are asking that each
resident limit yourself to two courtesy bottles of water per day.
If you enjoy the taste of bottled water, and find that you
consume more than two per day, please consider having a
family member bring in a supply from an outside source.
Happy Birthday
