Dossier Tutorial
This Broadly Experienced Architect (BEA) Educa8on Dossier Tutorial is meant to help new process BEA applicants in the prepara8on of their digital dossiers. 1 The BEA Educa8on Dossier you received on your CD-‐ROM contains five folders. This tutorial will walk you through the contents and objec8ve of each folder as well as highlight cri8cal areas. It is important to maintain the original organiza8on of the dossier. 2 Folder 1 The first folder contains important informa8on for you to read and understand prior to star8ng your dossier prepara8on. 3 Folder 2 The second folder contains general forms that you must complete. 4 Folder 3 The third folder contains Project and Ac8vity Forms. • Projects forms are used for specific projects. • Ac8vity forms are used for professional ac8vi8es unrelated to a specific project. Each project or ac8vity included in your dossier must have a project or ac8vity form. 5 Folder 3 – Project Forms The Project Form is two pages. The first page requires: 1. Project informa8on 2. Brief descrip8on of the project, Exhibit number it references 3. Exhibit referenced 4. Subject area is sa8sfied with this project If you include mul8ple documents for the same project, you will have mul8ple exhibit numbers, such as Exhibit No. 1-‐10. You may sa8sfy one or more of the subject areas with the same project. All exhibit numbers will be sequen8al. For example, if you have deficiencies in History and Design V and you submit 5 exhibits for History and 20 exhibits in Design V, your last exhibit number in your dossier will be 25. Therefore, you are encouraged to organize your exhibits first, in the order you would like, then fill in the exhibit numbers. 6 Folder 3 – Project Forms The second page of the project form requires three references, of which one must be a licensed professional. It is your responsibility to provide up-‐to-‐date contact informa8on and to no8fy your references that they are included in your dossier. 7 Folder 3 – Ac3vity Form The Ac8vity Form is used for professional ac8vi8es unrelated to a specific project, such as seminars, CE, publica8ons, volunteer work, etc. If you have mul8ple ac8vi8es you will have mul8ple exhibit numbers. If you have a combina8on of ac8vi8es and projects in your dossier, they should not be numbered separately. For example, if you have 40 total exhibits for projects and 15 total exhibits for ac8vi8es, you will have a total number of 55 exhibits. The proper order of the exhibits and the subject area they relate to are cri8cal to the reviewer. 8 Folder 4 The fourth folder contains a file for each subject area. Each file contains the Subject Area Evalua8on Forms (SAEF). These are templates for each subject area and subject area sub-‐category. Please delete any subject areas and/or subject area sub-‐categories that do not apply to you. Refer to your EESA Educa8on Evalua8on before you delete any files. If you were not required to obtain an EESA, you must sa8sfy all subject areas. 9 Folder 4 For demonstra8on of learning through experience there are three cri8cal elements: • SAEF (descrip8on) • Experience documenta8on • Annota8on of experience documenta8on 10 Folder 4 This is an example of a SAEF. It allows you to demonstrate through descrip8on learning through experience and your role and responsibility. Every document included must be accompanied by an SAEF. You must include sufficient descrip8on for every form included. 11 Folder 4 To insert a PDF document, click on the inser8on buaon on the boaom of the SAEF. Please ensure that your documenta8on follows the required format of 11” x 17” landscape or 8 ½” x 11” portrait. You can submit sizes in between as long as the height is 11” and all documents are right-‐side up. The format requirements allow the reviewer to review your documenta8on more efficiently and effec8vely. 12 Folder 4 The combina8on of the SAEF (descrip8on), experience documenta8on, and annota8on of experience documenta8on forms an Exhibit. The Exhibit number on the SAEF is the Exhibit number referenced on the Project and Ac8vity forms. There is no limit to the number of exhibits you include in your dossier, but each exhibit must include all three elements. To view your exhibits in this format, you must set the page display to two-‐page con8nuous, refer to technical instruc8ons in the first folder. 13 Folder 5 The fieh and final folder is Performance Criteria. 14 Checklist of important items before you save your dossier. 15 Refer to the technical instruc8ons in the first folder on how to create your PDF porfolio. 16
