Opeongo Heritage Cup Champions 2015

The Algonquin Thunderbirds took the 2015 Opeongo
Heritage Cup with a 3-1 triumph over the German Black

Opeongo Heritage Cup 2015
A banner in honour of Kevin Sarazin to
acknowledge his contribution to the hockey
world in the Madawaska and Ottawa Valley was
presented during the Opeongo Heritage Cup
2015. It will be placed permanently in the
Barry’s Bay arena.
The Algonquin Thunderbirds appreciate and
acknowledge Herb Shaw and Sons Ltd. for its
sponsorship and coverage for the banner’s
commissioning. Kevin was a long time
employee of Shaw Lumber and this banner will
mark his presence for as long as this tournament
exists.

Eganville Hockey League Champions 2015
The Golden Lake Thunderbirds captured the Eganville Hockey League Championship with a 4-3 win over
Finnigans in the fifth and deciding game on Sunday night. Team members are front, Benji and Quinn

The management and players of the Algonquin Thunderbirds Men’s Hockey Team 2015 would like to send a special thank
you note out to the community members and fans who supported them throughout the Opeongo Heritage Cup weekend in
Barry’s Bay. Chi-Meegwetch.

Algonquin in all of the team players and members of Pikwàkanagàn.

banner. Their presence in their traditional regalia instilled honor and pride in each and every one of us.
Clifford Meness and his grandson Kruz Kohoko and Brodie Verch ( Kevin’s grandson) for their presence at the presentation of
the banner and provision of the Pikwàkanagàn Flag in the ceremony.
Stan Moore for his contribution and kind donation of the Kevin Sarazin Memorial trophy (plaque) that is awarded annually to a
team player on the Algonquin Thunderbird Men’s Hockey Team. This is the 2nd year in which this trophy is awarded and the
recipient is Cheyenne Two Axe. Congratulations Cheyenne!!

JOSEPH RUSSELL LINDSAY BENOIT
June 11th, 1948 -- March 26th 2015
Our Creator called Joseph home on March 26th, 2015 at Tennisco
Manor in Pikwàkanagàn where he was a resident for the past five
years. Joseph was known to many as “Doc’ Joseph was the son
of the late Arthur & Maisie Benoit both deceased. Joseph’s older
brother John, “Cody” went before him in April 15th, 2014.
Joseph was the beloved father of Connie Antunes and Audra
Benoit, both of Kitchener Ont. He was predeceased by his life
partner Margaret Cooco in 1976.
Left to miss him deeply are his siblings Glen (Val deceased) Keith
(Lorna Turner) Carole (Garry Kokoko) Dale (Osborne Zohr)
Stanley (Helen Bernard) and Douglas.
Joseph also leaves his five grandchildren, Mathew, Eric, Christina,
Kimberly and Kayla and one great granddaughter Ivy, along with
numerous nephews and nieces and close friends to miss him.
As per Joseph’s final wishes cremation has taken place.
Our family chain is now missing two links. Our hearts are broken.
We will miss you dearly every day.

the Elder’s Hall in Pikwàkanagàn from 1-3 on Saturday, June
13th. 2015. Internment will take place in Our Lady of Nativity
Cemetery, Pikwàkanagàn where he will be laid to rest with his
parents and his brother.

DESCRIPTION
The responsibility of the Labourer will be to take direction and
orders from the Construction Manager in lifting, transporting
and installing solar panels on a building located on Goshen
Road (between Renfrew and Arnprior).
RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties listed below are intended for individuals who are
physically fit, take direction easily and are committed to hard
work. Your responsibilities would include taking direction from
the Construction Manager in installing solar panels on the roof
of a building.
REQUIREMENTS:









Provide manual labour services
Must be physically capable of lifting up to 70 lbs;
Must be physically capable of transporting material up
a ladder;
Must be comfortable working on a roof of a building;
Main Activities
Operate basic hand tools such as saws, shovels,
rakes, etc.
Operate basic power tools such as power drills, etc.
Provide manual labour assistance on various tasks
and assignments
Must be willing to work outdoors and in inclement
weather
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:


Up to date Fall Arrest Certificate
Fall Arrest Equipment (hardhats, gloves, boots, vests,
glasses and harness, etc.)

Must be able to travel when required and have a
current valid driver’s license, OR accessible
transportation and appropriate insurance;
Must be able to work a flexible schedule;

An eligibility list will be established and interviews will be
shortlisted to the five (5) most qualified individuals. The Hiring
Committee will be screening all applicants for conflict of
interest (the applicant must not be a member of the
construction manager’s immediate family) and the resume
submitted to ensure the applicant meets the qualifications
listed in this job description.

Fitness Group at Tennisco Manor Coming!
Coming in May we will be offering a fitness group class at the
manor. Classes will begin Tuesday May 5 at 1:00 pm.
All classes will be held on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s in May
at 1:00 pm. All Elders are welcome, the manor is wheelchair
and walker accessible. Classes will be taught by Terry Ann.

AMBULANCE BILLING INFO
Health Canada will no longer accept ambulance bill printed on
the yellow coloured paper. As of April 1, 2015,
Joanne Whiteduck, CHR will not be accepting ambulance bills
printed on yellow paper. If this happens, your ambulance will be
sent back to you and you will have to contact the hospital for the
correct ambulance bill. If your ambulance bill is printed on
white paper, it is the correct bill. It is your responsibility
to make sure you provide me with the correct bill,
so that I may submit if for payment.
